Second Team All-Conference SVL North

Jayla was a key contributor to Saginaw Heritage’s SVL North title. She averaged 11.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, and two assists per game, while shooting an efficient 73.6% from the free throw line and 56.3% from the field. Jayla is a dynamic scorer who shifts gears to get by defenders and makes difficult shots look easy in traffic. She’s a perimeter threat and has good vision as a facilitator.

Jayla received her first offer in September from SVSU and is off to a great start for Heritage. She’s consistently impressed on the court by rising to the occasion against tough opponents. Jayla is a multidimensional scorer with athleticism and quickness that grabs your attention. She’s skilled as a ball-handler, can facilitate, and is aggressive on defense.

Jayla is an explosive dual-threat guard who gets to the rim and can light it up from beyond the arc. Jayla drove with a burst down the baseline and scored an acrobatic mid-air finish through the defender’s chest off the glass. She cut backdoor, pivoted, and scored another tough layup in traffic. Jayla finished contested shots around the basket throughout the game, attacked hard off the dribble to cause fouls, converted free throws, and buried a corner three. She earned West Michigan Hoop Summit Co-MVP honors, leading Heritage with 14 points and six rebounds.

Jayla wasted no time establishing herself as a major force for Heritage, turning in an outstanding freshman season that earned her all-state honors. The explosive young guard filled up the stat sheet night after night, contributing nearly 16 points per game along with strong rebounding and disruptive defense. She delivered one of the program’s most memorable performances when she shattered the single-game scoring record with a 34-point outburst against Flint Carman-Ainsworth. With her athleticism, court awareness, and ability to take over games, Jayla has already cemented her place as one of Michigan’s elite underclassmen and is poised for an even bigger year ahead.

A strong, confident guard, she handled the ball well with both hands and does a great job finding open cutters to keep the offense in motion. As a sophomore she’s poised to be a major piece of Saginaw’s attack this season, contributing both as a playmaker and scorer. Defensively, her active hands stand out—she was constantly getting into passing lanes, creating deflections, and turning pressure into turnovers.

Jayla made an immediate impact as a freshman, earning all-state recognition after a stellar first season on the court. The dynamic guard showcased her all-around game, averaging 15.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.9 steals per outing. Her scoring ability was on full display when she broke the program’s single-game scoring record with a 34-point performance in a win over Flint Carman-Ainsworth. With her poise, athleticism, and natural feel for the game, Jayla has already established herself as one of the state’s top young talents and a player to watch in the coming years.

Jayla was an exciting freshman guard to watch at Heritage this season. She took the league by storm, immediately becoming one of the most dangerous scorers and a leader for the Hawks. Jayla earned SVL First Team All-Conference honors and was our Feb. 2nd-8th Player of the Week. Jayla set a single-game school record with an eye-popping 34 points vs. Carman-Ainsworth. At Mystics Get Ready, Jayla made smart passes, converted layups off two feet, and buried many triples for Mystics 2028-S40.

Jayla shot lights out at BCAM’s Reaching Higher Team Camp during the summer and led the high-octane Hawks offense all season. Jayla set a new single-game scoring record with 34 points against Carman-Ainsworth. She added 20 that week against Mount Pleasant, winning Feb. 2nd-8th Player of the Week. Jayla contributed in multiple categories, averaging 15.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.9 steals, and 1.9 assists per game. She helped Heritage to a 20-3 record (10-1 SVL) with statement wins against Sanford Meridian, Freeland, Flint Powers Catholic, Midland Dow, Kingston, Grand Blanc, Mount Pleasant, and West Bloomfield. Jayla led the team with 15 points and four rebounds vs. Kingston, 13 points, nine rebounds, and three assists vs. Powers, 20 points, four rebounds, and three assists vs. Mount Pleasant, 17 points, six rebounds vs. Midland, and 10 points, 3 assists vs. Frankenmuth. Jayla was voted Mlive’s top Saginaw-Area Winter Sports Underclassmen Athlete and voted by SVL head coaches as All-Conference First Team.

Jayla has stepped into a star role for Saginaw Heritage in just her first year on varsity. She’s been reliable and dependable for the Hawks all season, averaging 17 points per game against SVL opponents and 15.1 points overall. Jayla broke a Legends Heritage single-game scoring record last week when she poured in 34 points during a 67-38 win against Flint Carman-Ainsworth. Jayla added 20 points with 4 rebounds and 3 assists in a 59-24 victory against Mount Pleasant. She finished the week with 54 points and is quickly becoming one of the best guards in the Saginaw Valley League.

Jayla has consistently been an impact player for Heritage all season and she was again at the SVSU MLK Classic. Jayla buried two confident corner 3s, swept the ball baseline to beat her defender for a layup off two feet, and drove hard to cause a foul on her way to the basket. Jayla led the team with 10 points and dished out 3 assists. She is already making a strong case for SVL All-Conference as a freshman (has my vote) and will be a marquee guard to watch throughout her career for the Hawks.
