McCoy had been steadily improving throughout her sophomore campaign. On Thursday night she took a huge leap forward. She was all over the court on the defensive end. Racked up steals; from jumping to high point passes to straight up ripping away the ball from opponents. Read a play in transition and slid over to take a charge. Her energy and impact was enormous throughout the game on the defensive end.
Equally impressive was the speed and control she attacked with off the bounce on offense. Carved up the Yukon defense on multiple occasions. And that’s where the hard work she’s put in over the last year has really paid off. She has improved as a finisher at the basket and that was apparent throughout the game. For good measure, she drained a couple threes during a third quarter run that proved to be a back breaker.

A returner from last season’s team that will be asked to step up this season as the primary ball handler as last season point guard moved on to play at the D1 level. The combo guard has the outside shooting ability to move over to the 2 post as well. A high IQ as expected being he coaches daughter whose dad played at the D1 level himself.
A player to watch this season as mentioned Kinley will be expected to pick up a heavier load of work this year.

It was a bright start for McCoy’s school ball season. She was reading passing lanes like a DB, and feasting in transition. Which included improved touch as a finisher, even finishing through fouls. It was a good sign of her development over the last six months, as she was hitting shots she would’ve previously missed. Seems to be taking on the creating responsibilities, with some good drives and dishes to the Timberwolves’ frontcourt.
As the day went along, she had some issues with turnovers on offense. And had some moments on defensive of unsuccessfully gambling while on the ball. Finding the right balance between havoc causing and being disciplined by playing defense with her feet will help her lead a rebuilding Norman North team.

McCoy is one part non stop energy and one part coach’s daughter. Always was running the floor hard and also was a pesky, tough defender. Often picked up full court. Seemingly always made the right passes in transition and in the halfcourt. Some of them were of the simple but important pitch ahead passes or extra passes along the perimeter. Has taken steps forward as a more consistent finisher at the rim and still pops up with the occasional three.

The combo guard returns this season after a strong freshman season on a very experienced team. Kinley earned District Honorable Mention last season. The scoring guard will be asked to contribute more this season as Norman North graduated their top two leading scorers from last season.

Quick guard, who can be disruptive on defense and also earn paint touches on offense. Capable as an floor spacing shooter from three. Contributed in spots for an upperclassman heavy Norman North team as a freshman. Now, has been a key part of a LEGYNDS 15U team that has racked up wins all over the country. Needs to refine her finishing at the rim to make the next step. Which should be expected this upcoming season as there’s promising upside. As her father is a former Division One player, who is also sliding over from the boys side to coach Norman North girls.
