I have seen Nylah play a handful of times and she is a very talented player with a multitude of skills to go along with her great size at the point guard position. Nylah was in complete control of the offense for Duval Elite running the point. She was able to get downhill past defenders with her speed, but also around defenders with a smooth handle off the bounce. She was excellent distributing the ball to her talented teammates, but looked like a real Alpha scoring the ball down the stretch for her team with poise and confidence including one tough, turnaround fadeaway from 10 feet near the block. This was the best I have seen Brooks play and by a wide margin. Her high school team is very rarely in close games, so for her to perform as well as she did on the big stage against great competition raised her stock with me exponentially and I thought very highly of her heading into the game.

Brooks brings a steady, dependable presence to the floor and fits right into the “bread and butter” category. She plays with control, understands her role, and consistently makes winning plays on both ends. Offensively, she’s capable of knocking down shots and keeping the defense honest, but what really stands out is her ability to stay composed and make the right decision under pressure. She doesn’t force the game—she lets it come to her while still being effective. Defensively, she competes, stays active, and gives consistent effort, which adds to her overall impact. She’s another player coaches can trust in key moments, whether it’s making a smart pass, taking care of the basketball, or stepping into a timely shot. Brooks may not always be the loudest name, but her consistency, feel for the game, and reliability make her a true bread-and-butter contributor in the 2027 class.

Nylah established herself as one of the tournament’s most clutch performers. Brooks was remarkably consistent throughout the week, finishing as the team’s second-leading scorer in both the semifinal (15 points) and the championship game (16 points). In the title matchup against Blanche Ely, she showed incredible toughness by relentlessly attacking the basket and living at the free-throw line, knocking down 9-of-12 from the stripe to help secure the narrow two-point victory. Beyond her scoring, Brooks impacted the game across the board. She totaled 4 steals, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists while logging nearly 63 minutes across the two games. Her aggressive, confident play and all-around production made her a key piece of Booker T. Washington’s championship run.

Nylah had a warrior performance in the final and had a huge steal in the second half when digging the ball out from a dominant post who put it on the floor. Her true value was in her aggression and ability to attack the bucket and draw contact. She drew 9 fouls which was nearly half of Ely’s total team fouls, and she lived at the free-throw line where she went 9-of-12. Her 16 points led all scorers, and her ability to put Ely’s backcourt in foul trouble shifted the game’s geometry in the fourth quarter.

delivered one of the most complete performances of the semifinal round – 15 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks, and three three-pointers. Brooks ran the point, controlled the tempo, dished the rock, set up teammates, while handling point and played strong defense throughout the game. When two of her team’s top players (Francis and Clardy) were on the bench in foul trouble and the game was on the line Brooks provided leadership and delivered one of the the most clutch performances of the day.

has been that steady guard who makes the point guard position look easy. She plays a selfless game and pushes the pace and plays with poise beyond her years. She does a great job of getting the ball to some of the top prospects in the State. Her pinpoint passes are exciting, and her ability to impact the game with a steal and dish or steal and layup is what makes her a special player. Brooks’s steady play will keep her in the conversation for one of the most impactful point guards in the 2027 class. She and her teammates should be sitting in Jacksonville on the very last day of the State Championship playoffs. If there is one team that carries that lofty expectation- it is Booker T. Washington.
