Lila is coming in as the 8th ranked player in the class. She’s forged her own path and her game is still evolving. Her willingness to take the tough shots just can’t go overlooked. Lila also works well with plenty of skillsets due to her high IQ. The on-the-spot decision-making, quick reactiveness and consistent activity affect many levels of the defense.

Lila continues to impress with her ability to knock down threes both off the dribble and in catch-and-shoot situations. She plays with poise and control, never looking rushed, which is especially impressive for a freshman. Her confidence and shooting ability continue to improve each time she takes the floor.

Lila plays fast, is a reliable threat from beyond the arc and finishes well at the basket in traffic. She’s also a hound on defense, making ballhandler’s jobs hard throughout the game. She feasts on sloppy play and players that’re easily flustered. The flair she plays with makes her such a captivating player.

McCarty has been one of the more buzzing names coming into the season and for good reason. She’s incredibly zippy, has size, gets out in transition for easy ones, effective under pressure, plus she understands how to get to her spots with a purpose. In addition to that is a competitiveness that shines bright on the defensive end. She doesn’t just play one side of the ball; McCarty has shown the willingness and nonstop energy to slow down a plethora of different archetypes on defense. This is certainly a freshman’s campaign to follow.

Lila has a very quick release, getting her shot off even with defenders closing hard. This was my second time watching her, and she impressed again with her poise and skill. Off the ball she stays active, constantly relocating to her preferred spots to make herself available. Her passing accuracy stands out as well, consistently hitting teammates in stride to keep the offense flowing. Even after missing a few early shots, she never lost confidence and eventually found her rhythm, knocking down attempts with ease.

Mccarty is such a fun watch. Lila has shown she can score from 3 levels without hesitation while also making the game easier for her teammates. She’s composed while letting plays develop and she also capitalizes on each opportunity the defense allows when scrambling. When Lila gets rolling, it’s very hard to stop her. She can be a microwave scorer, having insane stretches when on fire. Mccarty isn’t just chucking up shots though, this is upper-level decisiveness at its finest. This can be thoroughly defeating for those guarding her. Mccarty’s understanding of the game is key piece to her game; not only is she skillful, but Lila’s quick ability to process the floor and maximize each moment is commanding.

When I walked into the gym, Lila was the first player the event coach pointed out to me, and it was easy to see why. She’s already one of the top shooters in the state for her age, and her shooting ability stood out immediately. Lila scores with confidence from anywhere around the arc and can also create in the mid-range off the dribble. She handles the ball with her eyes up, always looking to set up teammates while keeping defenders from picking her pocket.

Mccarty is a remarkable perimeter talent that’s a tough cover on any given night. She’s an attacking force that holds tremendous value due to her ability to put pressure on the defense. Mccarty forces opponents to adjust to what she’s doing. Even when players give her space, Lila capitalizes by knocking down shots that make the defense respect her. The form may be unconventional, but its effective and she makes those guarding her pay. It doesn’t take much when watching Lila to see how striking of a player Mccarty is.
