Is it possible to be highly rated, yet somehow still underrated in some degree? That’s the feeling around Middleton. She’s a bigtime player that makes bigtime plays in the most impactful ways. There’s a level of certainly in game and she’s never wavering off what she does best. Gabby has continuously proved against the best that she deserves to have her name in the mix. Middleton has received some offers through spring, but summer can be a completely different story. Expect to hear the name a lot more with the upcoming competitive schedule.

Middleton is a polished high-level impact player that imposes herself on others. Players usually have to make the adjustment to Gabby due her high IQ, ability to absorb contact, vision and tough shot-making. She’s also a natural mismatch that relishes in isolation possessions. Her defensive abilities aren’t what she’s known for, but they shouldn’t be slept on either. Gabby has shown she can be sneaky agitator that forces turnovers and she’s usually in great help position. Middleton has major influence in any given game.

Gabby was extremely tough to contain going downhill, using her strength and physicality to bully defenders on her way to the basket. She also shot the ball well from 3-point range, handled the ball confidently up the court, and showed strong court vision by finding open teammates whenever the defense collapsed on her drives.

Gabby had a strong season at Newman and earned NEPSAC Class AAA All-Star honors. She has one of the smoothest step-back three-pointers around, shifting defenders and creating plenty of space to get her shot off. With the ball in her hands she combines strength and quickness, making her extremely difficult to stop when attacking downhill. She also sees the floor very well, firing accurate passes to teammates spotting up along the perimeter or cutting to the basket.

There was so much to take in with Middleton this season. She’s the type of individual talent that can take over games with her ideal mechanics, grasp of situations/matchups and flow within the game. This season there were a lot of other areas that highlighted advancements though. Gabby was a willing passer, that shared scoring opportunities across the board, showed even more defensive promise, there was a significant effort shown towards rebounding and just generally being a better leader. Her display in overall growth could be considered a sacrifice to her scoring prowess, especially when considering how sophisticated of a playmaker she can be for herself as well as others. This is a menacing talent at the position that’s going to wreak havoc come AAU time.

Gabby is always making statements in the most critical moments. This time, Middleton showed up big in a highly anticipated matchup. She revealed exactly what she was made of vs Tilton by getting to some of her signature looks comfortably. Her overall utility as a complete scorer spoke volumes. There’re these extra gears that Middleton possesses that others just lack.

Gabby led Newman to a win over Dexter with a 20-point performance, showcasing her poise and efficiency. She plays very well out of the pick-and-roll, creating space to get her shot off quickly, and she remains patient, letting the game come to her. With a strong handle, good vision as a passer, and the ability to knock down catch-and-shoot threes, she is a steady and reliable offensive presence.

The Newman star is widely recognized as one of the top talents around. Middleton showed yet again that in high leverage moments her number is the one to call. She led her team with 20 points in a comeback win at the Nickerson Tournament. The way she operates as a creating wing is a thing of pure beauty. Gabby showed poise in the pick & roll, created driving paths off favorable angles, found others after forcing the defense to shift, exerted her strength as she steered defenders where she wanted them plus Gabby was the one to hit the tough shots with heavy attention on her. Middleton was just generally taking advantage of each possession she had, especially late into the game. Middleton is dictating force to be reckoned with.

Middleton is one of the finest prospects in the class. She can serve as an on-ball creator and she’s one of the more elite players at handling heavy defensive pressure. Gabby’s poise under fire allows her to have a commanding control in even the most intense moments. She requires the defense’s upmost respect at all times and her understanding of how to operate at the different levels negates even the best defender’s efforts.
