Expert Analysis
Evan Bell | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Maci has been on a roll for Mystics 16U Josh S40 to start the AAU season, including a dominant All-Tournament First Team performance at the Northwood PGH MI College Tour. Her length, ability to attack gaps to score off the dribble, facilitating, aggressive rebounding, quickness in the open court, instincts to jump passes leading to turnovers on the defensive end, and confidence from beyond the arc has made her extremely impactful. Maci heads into the PGH MI College III looking to make a loud statement in a stacked division and she’ll be a playmaker to pay attention to.

Maci was aggressive right from the opening tip for Mystics 16U-S40 Talaga. She blew by a defender using a quick double-crossover combo to score a layup with her left, dropped in a soft floater in transition, and crashed the glass to secure an offensive rebound. Macy threw a smart cross-court skip pass to the corner and dished out a sweet no-look dump-off pass for an assist after penetrating off the dribble. Maci anticipated a drive, rotated from the help side, and blocked the shot. She finished well using both hands, facilitated effectively, and asserted herself on the court during the PGH MI College Tour at Northwood.

Maci averaged 13.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.8 steals, 3.3 assists, and 1.4 blocks for the Colts. She set a single-season record for assists and steals, receiving recognition as First Team OAA. Maci has the length and fundamental skills needed to excel on the perimeter as a guard or wing. She disrupts passing with her length, slashes to the rim for layups, and has good vision in the open court. Maci can step outside to hit threes, finish confidently with both hands, and facilitate.

Maci is one of the biggest rankings risers in our latest update, and she checks the boxes needed to be a top 30 prospect with the potential to keep climbing. Maci has length, athleticism, fundamental skills, and mobility to excel as a wing or a guard. Her breakout performance came at Northwood Team Camp. Maci competed with confidence and an all-out motor that made her a standout on both sides of the ball. She contributed in every category for the Colts, and I expect her recruiting to take a quantum leap forward in no time.

A year ago, Maci was a colt finding her footing at Northwood Team Camp as an incoming freshman. She showed flashes of potential, playing mostly off the ball in the paint. Fast forward a year and now she’s racing up and down the court like a Mustang–turning up the heat on defense, handling the ball with control and confidence, showing her ability to be the lead guard. Maci snagged a steal, pushed the ball the length of the court, and forced a foul. She grabbed a defensive rebound, went coast to coast, spun, and dropped in the floater. Her aggressive defense and length caused several deflections and steals. Maci deflected a pass, stole the ball, and finished with a left-handed breakaway layup. She stole the ball again to score a transition layup and intercepted another pass, then took it all the way for two more points. Maci threw a strong hammer pass to an open teammate for an assist and buried a pair of step-back jumpers. She finished layups with both hands around the rim off one and two feet. Maci has length, versatility, and skills that give her a high ceiling as a wing/guard prospect in this class.

Maci competed up a couple of grades on the travel circuit and looks ready to make an immediate impact for the Colts as a freshman. She pushes the ball in transition and uses combination dribbles to create separation from defenders. Maci has the range to hit shots outside and effective footwork to score in the paint. Her length creates deflections on defense and I expect her to be a colt who sprints out of the gate in her first varsity season at Troy.

Similar to Sheridan, when you play up 2 age brackets and still show out – that grabs people attention. Zeiter has been lights out all spring and summer and was once again. Her combination of height, ball skills and basketball IQ makes her a joy to watch and a nightmare for opposing coaches.
