delivered a strong two-way performance in the semifinals, finishing with 13 points and 5 rebounds. She was effective scoring around the basket, stayed active defensively, and used her length to protect the rim. Rypien’s presence was felt on both ends of the floor, as she competed inside while also showing comfort on the perimeter. The sophomore forward knocked down the three with a smooth stroke, showing another dimension to her game. With the ability to produce in the paint and stretch the floor from the wing, Rypien raised her stock as a reliable and versatile player.

Malayah is a lock for the Honorable Mention team thanks to her incredible productivity in limited minutes across both tournament games. A versatile forward, she used her length to disrupt opponents, averaging a block and two steals per game. In the semifinal, Rypien was highly efficient, scoring 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting and grabbing five rebounds in just 13 minutes of action. She continued her steady impact in the championship game, adding six points and three rebounds. Her ability to maximize her time on the floor and provide rim protection made her one of the most effective reserve players in the 4A state tournament.

Malayah runs the floor well and uses her length to rebound in traffic. She finished around the rim with either hand and showed good touch. Her ability to stretch the floor adds real value to her game. The physicality she’s added to her game around the rim is a clear sign of her improvement.

Malayah has climbed up double-digit spots after impressive showings this summer and fall. Her size and skillset project very well to the next level with her poise and ability the stretch the floor. I expect her versatility to be a key in Bishop Moore’s success as she’s matured her game since last season. I’ve heard she has some pretty good genes, too.

Malayah is one of the most well-rounded players in this class with her size and versatility. She showed some smooth footwork after posting up smaller defenders, and she can knock down the 3 ball over just about anyone. Her rebounding was high level and she has the ability to bring the ball up herself if she needs to. I was most impressed with her passing in pick-and-roll situations as not many 6+ footers have that kind of vision or touch on their passes.

has a long, collegiate-like athletic frame and uses it to space the floor with her shooting ability. She easily shoots over the top of smaller defenders—and even those her same height—because she shoots with confidence and great mechanics. This allows her to get her shot off the dribble, even after a pump fake, as her base remains balanced and she uses her length to shoot over the top. As she continues to improve her ball handling, I foresee her becoming an even bigger threat by creating more of her own shots off the dribble this year. She is definitely a player you don’t want to miss on her rise to stardom.

Malayah is a long, tall, and versatile prospect in the 2028 class. She rebounds the ball well and can hit the three ball, too. Her effort and hustle stick out as a player who’s had the benefit of playing with other 2028’s who may get more shine than her at times, but she absolutely has high upside and deserves some recognition for her game.
