Day is a special player, and her open-court game is as smooth and electrifying as anyone’s. She has a knack for scoring the ball in any manner. What really stood out was her three-point shooting and perimeter shooting. She shot the three-ball with confidence, and even the misses looked good. Day’s defense was special, and she applied great pressure on the ball and consistently got steals and deflections. As in the past, she was one of the best at turning turnovers into transition baskets and scoring opportunities.

Ashlynn’s move to Bishop Moore adds another layer of intrigue to a program that reached the state championship game a season ago and undoubtedly has its sights set on getting back. One of the most explosive scoring guards in the state, she brings dynamic scoring ability and an exciting offensive skill set to a roster that already returns plenty of talent. Unlike some transfers, Ashlynn is already familiar with the system and several of her new teammates, which should help make the transition smoother. The biggest adjustment may simply be how the ball and shot distribution ultimately shakes out on a team loaded with weapons. Regardless, her ability to create offense and impact games should make her a major addition for the Hornets. I’m excited to see her in Gainesville during the FABC Scholastic Live Period, where she has an opportunity to continue building recruiting momentum and attract additional college interest.

What makes her numbers particularly unique is the fact that she averages a double-double as a guard. Her 20 point production is even more impressive when you realize that most of her points come from in the paint and in transition. She aggressively attacks the rim and plays through a lot of physical contact. Her toughness and willingness to battle inside make her one of the most impactful two-way guards in the playoffs. In a close game, she has the ability to take over and lead her team to a win – possibly two wins in Jacksonville.

There were very few times she wasn’t able to get there with her quick first step and ability to find the angle and finish through contact using the backboard. Ashlynn consistently put up points, and toward the later stages of games, when teams tried to pack the paint or go under screens to slow her down, she showcased her ability to knock down the three. Either way, she was scoring three points—whether the old-school way with an and-one or from long range. Day’s awareness of when to use high or low pickups on the drive was impressive, and her deep bag of finishes around the rim makes her tough to stop.

Simply put—Ashlynn is a bucket, whether it’s night or day. She carried this scoring ability into the travel season on the Under Armour circuit, where she even competed at times with the 17U team and still found ways to get her shots off. The question now is: will she emerge as the top scorer at the Sophomore Showcase?

Ashlynn has emerged as one of the top players in the Orlando area, regardless of class. She’s been playing very well since being called up to 17U on the GUAA circuit. Her motor and will to score the rock from anywhere will take her far. AD already owns a verbal offer from Arkansas.

Day is a playmaker in all aspects of the game. Her length and smooth handles allow her to attack the basket and score at will. A player not afraid to let it fly from deep but also cuff it and get downhill. She creates match up nightmares with her ability to score at all 3 levels. Day showed why she is one of the top 2028s in the state of Florida.
