Game Watched: Swarm 17U Showcase vs Team Texas Flames

An athletic guard with a burst that stands out even on the screen, Pratt is a fluid athlete. Not only does she have the athleticism to gain seperation in transition, or stop on a dime in the halfcourt, she looked fluid and skilled in how she scored. Which included finishing at the rim, and perimeter shooter (on and off the ball).  The Midwest City guard looks like she’s just scratching the surface of her potential to be a dynamic scorer.

Mar’kia is another player that we’ve had our eye on here at PGH for a while. It’s been fun to watch her development as a player and her rise up the rankings. This time, it was a jump of 54 spots! Mar’kia uses her 5’9″ frame in a plethora of ways for the Bombers as she can absolutely rack up the blocks as a shot-swatting big. She also has plenty of speed and lateral movement to stay in front of speedy three’s and guards. Pratt gets up and down the floor very well and is especially adept at finishing in transition.

It seems like anytime you go out to watch Midwest City play, you’re going to see something special from their guards and you can go ahead and add Mar’kia to that list. She’s a slasher that’s on a whole other level. Her handles are silky and her basketball IQ is top notch. She understands what the defense is doing and uses that to help her to not only get to the rim, but kick it out to the open shooter when she feels too much pressure. Pratt is extremely athletic and seems to relish the one-on-one challenge of defending her fellow ballhandler. The Bombers are going to be “must-see” this season and Mar’kia is a big part of that!
