committed to their program. Szalo is more of a CG/SF. She is skilled around the hoop with sharp knowledge of the game but she can also step out to hit a jumper when she has time and space. I see Szalo as a 3 at the next level more times than not but who knows. I think she will have a few spots she could adapt too. It’ll really come down to what the Grand View system calls for when Szalo gets on roster.

is still uncommitted at this time but she does have some options for her collegiate future. Szalo, the 5’10 SF, has a deep bag offensively when it comes to the skill side of the game. She is a hooper that understands situations pretty well, while being able to move around a little bit on the floor, depending on what is being asked of her. With her height and physical prowess, she isn’t afraid to bump oppositions for space on either end of the floor and she can use finesse to put some touch on the ball as she attacks the bucket. Szalo is coming off of a respectable last season with her AIA team. Hopefully she can take that momentum and ride into a senior year to remember over the next six-eight months!

has been a prospect we have evaluated for years now. She has worn a few different jerseys but her game always seems to stay the same. Szalo comes in at 5’10 and works from the Forward position primarily but she can also step out and compete as a CG in most situations as well. She is willing to step out, screen, and roll or pop for a nice midrange pull up. Defensively, she plays hungry like she needs the rock at all times and that’s a great thing to see. She does a fantastic job jumping to the ball with her natural instincts and that’s noteworthy. Szalo and her

EYCL 17U team will be in Arizona this weekend looking to make a statement. If they compete to their full potential, they should win some contests.

of Waukee High School will have one more AAU season to show scouts what she can do on the floor with other talented individuals. So far, Szalo holds an offer from NAIA – Grand View out of the Des Moines area and that is a great start but I don’t think she is going to be satisfied. I think she is going to look to make a big push over the next six months before she steps onto the court as a senior with her Warriors program once again. She possesses some intangibles that will translate to the next level so it’s all about finding the correct fit at this point in time. If she can do that, she could flourish in the right system before you know it.

and her EYCL team stayed undefeated throughout Sunday, giving them a chance at the 10th grade EYCL Platinum Championship on Monday afternoon. A big reason for their second win of today is because of their resilience. Tree Of Hope brought in a high octane program and The Attack just kept up with their pace. One of their constants to help propel them in the second half of this one was Szalo. Szalo got a few buckets to go at the rim over smaller defenders late in the fourth quarter, after she beat them off the dribble out of the mid-post. In the end, this was a big difference maker and a reason they are moving on.”

10th EYCL team will be staying home this weekend, trying to protect their home court in a sense in Des Moines. Szalo is a 5’10 Shooting Guard/Small Forward that has a good mixture of skill and coordination. She is skilled enough to be able to create off the dribble and score the ball in several different ways but she is also physical enough to just go straight up through contact. Defensively, she can be just as solid. She usually doesn’t get beaten off the dribble but if that does happen, she can recover and still get a stop on the play. Speaking to her athletic ability. Her team is stacked with solid prospects. As long as everyone plays their role, it should be a good weekend.

over the past few seasons has been eye-opening. When I first had the chance to see Szalo compete on the AAU circuit, she demonstrated experienced skill and the knowledge of when to use those skill moves against different opponents in real time. As she has gotten older, that skill has become more seasoned and she has become a stronger/more physical player, helping her in several different aspects of the game. At the high school level, she displayed this Winter that she is going to be someone that everyone needs to know about over these next two years, if they don’t already. She helped lead her team to some impressive victories, all while being her dominating-self. As of most recent, Szalo visited GCU on spring break while also receiving some interest from other programs across the country. I think that if she can put together an impressive Spring, her recruitment will continue to sky-rocket but we will just have to wait and see.

was a prospect that we featured a week or so ago because of her persistent this Post-season and she is being featured again because of her fantastic game play in her teams First Round upset against Ankeny Centennial, 46-44. This game started with a 10-0 Jaguars lead but that all changed when the Warriors took over at the end of the first quarter, finishing the half on a 28-11 run and going into half-time with a count of 28-22. I give a lot of credit because Szalo kept this group in it when things could have gotten out of hand at start the game, even more-so than they were. If this contest started 15-0 or even 20-0, I’m not sure if the Warriors pull it out. Szalo is a D2 talent at the moment in my eyes and she proved that in a big way on Monday morning. If she continues to work on her game and evolve to a higher level, skill-wise, she is going to be a real problem over the next two season before she steps on the collegiate floor. Wherever that may be.

last night may have put together one of the best so far. When the final buzzer sounded and the Waukee Warriors secured their bid to the Well, Szalo had ended up with 24 Points on 10-12 shooting, including going 4-5 from behind the three point line. She also recorded 6 Rebounds and 3 Assists in her efforts. If you know anything about Szalo, you know her skill is there. She is a competitor that was getting some D2 interesting last AAU season and I expect that to pick up more this upcoming summer. She has size, athleticism, and great knowledge of the game. I think the best part about her play-style, is her understanding. Not just on situational stuff, but understand of her own ability and the moves she is able to make. This Waukee Warriors team have a squad that can play and that been proven. If they continue to roll with this momentum, who knows how far they could take things.

The Waukee Warriors are having a nice run this season so far because of their veteran roster and quick adapting coaching staff. They are running great offense, playing through the whistle on each possession, and they always give themselves a chance. A prospect that may only be a Sophomore for this group, but who plays a major role is

. Szalo is talented in a handful of different ways and she has had that on full display this winter. In simple terms, she has size, skill, and a high IQ. Her natural reach at 5’10, paired with her knowledge of how/when to do certain moves on offense is impressive. To kick off this 2023-2024 season, Szalo is currently averaging 10.1 PPG, 3.6 RPG, and 1 SPG. Considering her team is 10-3 and their other three leading scorers are all college committed, I would say that’s pretty good. This is going to be a group we hear about a few more times before this season comes to a close. If everyone can keep up their production, they are going to be a tough group to beat come Playoff time.
