Expert Analysis
Evan Bell | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Mya has been a foundational member of a Grass Lake team that has done nothing but win throughout her high school career. She helped the Warriors win four straight Cascades Conference Championships, was selected to the Cascades Conference Dream Team as a senior, and earned All-Conference Second Team honors as a junior. Mya had a huge 25-point performance against Michigan Center in their second meeting and was the MVP against Brooklyn Columbia Central in the Cascades Conference Championship. Mya inspired a second-half comeback, posting 15 points, seven rebounds, three steals, and two assists in the 52-42 win. Her smooth pull-up game, instincts and vision as a passer, competitive fire and finesse as a finisher will be missed. Mya will continue her career at Davenport and will be a great addition to their program.

Mya made sure that her final Cascades Conference Championship Game ended in a win. She started the scoring for Grass Lake in the first, using an effective pivot to create space from her defender, then knocked down the mid-range jumper. Mya changed directions with her dribble, pushed the tempo in transition, and attacked downhill to earn trips to the free-throw line. She contorted her body to score a tough floater in traffic and took a pop pass hard to the basket for another soft finish off the glass. Mya converted free throws at the line, handled the ball with poise, distributed crisp passes, generated steals on the defensive end, and stepped into a clutch wing three to ignite the Warriors at the beginning of the third quarter. She ended the game with 15 points, seven rebounds, three steals, and two assists. Mya will continue her career at Davenport University following graduation.

Mya, a Davenport University commit, continues to be a key piece for Grass Lake after securing Cascades Conference Second Team recognition last season. Her speed and wingspan make her a disruptive presence defensively, where she frequently alters shots and jumps passing lanes. Offensively, she’s dangerous when driving, using smooth crossovers to get downhill and finish confidently with either hand. Mya also stretches the floor with her reliable three-point stroke and shows strong mechanics and court awareness, making her a versatile playmaker poised for another standout season.

Viegelahn has shown me that she’s willing to put it on the line to help her team get a win. She’ll hit the floor for a loose ball without hesitation. Viegelahn will battle with bigger post players on the glass and isn’t afraid of contact under the rim.
