Wednesday evening’s matchup was also the final time in a Mallard Creek uniform for Young. She played over 30 minutes for the Mavericks and recorded a double-double of 14 rebounds and 11 points. continues to show off her high motor hustling back on a fast break hitting an old fashioned three point play. She was doing an excellent job rebounding on both ends of the court, and she moves well without the ball on offense shifting the defense. She was sealing off her opponents to make her an easy target for the pass. She found herself wide open in the paint getting lost by her defender to grab the pass and score the bucket giving her team the lead in overtime.

had a strong third quarter being ready to make the shot and grab the pass off her quick cut to the rim. She does well making adjustments to hit her shot, and she creates offensive buckets off her defense getting her hands in the way of her opponents. Her ability to run a press efficiently certainly slows down her opponents.

uses her defense to create offensive plays. She’s very tough guarding any player, especially on a full court press where she easily grabs steals that turn into points for her team. On half court sets, she uses her length to get her hands in the way knocking the pass away and blocking shots. She’s elusive with her ball handling, too, being able to create open space to put up her shot.

is such a tough defender going up high to grab the steal, and she can knock it out of the way of her opponents as they try to dribble by her. On offense, she attacks the basket and uses power dribbles on the block to get to where she wants to go. She hustles back on defense even blocking shots on fast breaks.

is one of the top defenders in the state and an excellent two-way player. Her instincts on defense are sure to come up with steals whether she’s getting in the way of passes or knocking the ball away from someone trying to dribble by her. She’s tough attacking the basket herself, especially off of these steals, and she moves well without the ball relocating to find the open position.

had a nice take to the hoop going coast to coast after she grabbed the rebound fighting against some tough opponents and weaving her way up the court for the shot. She showed her versatility being able to post up on the block catching the entry pass and scoring the bucket. As always, her defense was on point causing problems for her opponents all over the court.

is a full court threat. She plays aggressive defense diving on the floor for loose balls, and she can strip the ball away from her opponents easily. She moves quickly jumping in passing lanes whether she’s protecting the basket or pulled out in a full court press. On offense, she uses that same drive attacking the basket and being aggressive with her cuts to get the open look.

She can easily jump in front of passing lanes grabbing the steal to score on fast breaks, and she is quick to release up the court being ready for the pass in transition scoring through contact when needed. Her explosive plays make it difficult for defenders to keep up with her as she attacks the basket or pulls up for a jumper.
