Phoenix is a primary reason why Burke is among the 2A teams statewide to beat. The Bulldogs faced a stiff test in 5A Division 2 Westwood – one that went the way of the Redhawks, but Phoenix put together a winning performance in defeat with 22 points. She has established herself as an on-court leader and maintains a great deal of focus on the task at hand. Phoenix is always a threat to score whenever she has the ball in her hand – and even so when the rock is possessed by a teammate. She blends together the ball handling capabilities of a guard with the post skills of a big. Phoenix is one of four sophomores on this season’s Burke team.

Prospects who stand at 5-foot-10 like Phoenix does and can play as a point guard will always be intriguing. Phoenix put together one of the signature freshman campaigns across the Palmetto State this past season. She played in 27 games last season for Burke which moved up from 1A to 2A. Phoenix averaged 17.7 points, 8.6 rebounds, 4.1 steals and 1.7 blocked shots per game. Her Bulldogs benefitted greatly from her heroics. The team finished last season with a 21-7 record and won its region with a 10-1 showing. Another solid season from Phoenix will further solidify Burke as 2A contenders.

When thinking of rising stars who put together signature freshman seasons, Phoenix from 2A Burke certainly comes to mind. While Phoenix does thrive as a frontcourt stalwart, she displays how versatile she can be with her ability to make plays at the two and at the wing. Phoenix is a consistent rebounder who also comes up big on defense with steals. If the 5-foot-10 sophomore has the ball near the basket, there is a good chance it will mean two more points. She averaged 17.7 points, 8.6 rebounds 4.1 steals and 1.7 blocks per contest last season with the Bulldogs and was a major reason why Burke concluded the 2024-25 season with a record of 21-7.
