joins up with this program this AAU season out of the North Liberty area and she has already stepped up to prove that she is going to be one of their top producers throughout the Spring and Summer. Just this last weekend, during the first live period of the Spring, Peterson went off while basically averaging a double-double near the bucket. This is a prospect that has good size for her age and better than average skill as well. She is pretty versatile with positioning on the court but she definitely thrives in the middle of the lane or playing off the elbow more than anywhere else right now. When you pair that with her determination to get things done under the hoop, you see the future promise. Like I said above, this past weekend was a big confidence builder for this group as a whole and for Peterson individually. She showed her worth and she won’t be looking back anytime soon.

Paetyn “Double-Double” Peterson was just that this weekend. She was a double-double machine in between the blocks on both offense and defense. Peterson actually started this weekend somewhat slow in the first game but from there, her confidence helped her never look back. She just kept producing, basically averaging a stat-line of 20 & 10 over the weekends throughout the first few days with her 5’11 frame. We saw glimpses of Peterson playing some sound ball this Winter and after watching some of her performances this weekend, I would imagine that she will be the force that pushes PV High School over the next couple of years on the Varsity floor. There are several other factors that go into stuff like that so we will just have to wait and see but there is a lot to like here looking forward.

Peterson is ranked highly by the knowledgable folks at PGH for a reason. The Pleasant Valley freshman has game. We can witness that when watching her clips on Hudl. As a shooter, there’s not much wasted movement. She receives the ball behind the arc shot-ready, quickly catching and releasing. The form is clean and the rotation pure. Height and long arms allow for shooting over most on-ball defenders. They also aid her in effectively defending whether she’s going straight up or getting her hands on the passing lanes. Peterson does well when trapping or double-teaming. She’s athletic, runs the floor well and flashes a tight handle. What makes Peterson’s basketball skills more impressive is that they’ve been developed while also playing a high level of volleyball and softball. She ranked second on the Spartans in scoring (11.6 PPG) and rebounding (4.7 RPG).
