When you look at the path that PV will take, they have a tough matchup right out of the gate with Ankeny Centennial. I have

of PV as being someone that could and should be an X-Factor. Not only will she be a factor being she is their PG with the ball in her possession the most but because she will have one of the toughest defenders in the state on her in Drake commit,

Reagan Pagnaino of Pleasant Valley High School has stood out to me ever since she helped lead her team to a 5A State Title a few years back. On that run, she demonstrated that she can lead a team’s offense that possesses D1 talent, while also being a controller of pace of play with the ability to make the others around her shine. Last week, Pagnaino committed to D3 – Wartburg to compete at the next level. This is a big commitment for Wartburg in my opinion. This is a prospect that has proven her worth on the biggest of stages and she is going to be set to do the same once she gets a shot within that collegiate program in a couple of years.

and her Iowa Dream 2025 team will look to cap off their season with a bang this next month as they compete all over the country. Pagniano is a guard that can be moved between the PG and the SG spot, depending on what is needed of her. For her high school team, she has helped them secure a State Title as their Point Guard but she is also a solid shooter, who is willing to break down the defense and make the extra pass while going toward the rim so it all just depends. At the next level, Pagniano would produce. She might not have a ton of interest just yet but this next month of ball should help prior to her Senior season with the Spartans.

is a winner. A Point Guard with a swift demeanor, quick handle, crafty footwork, and an attitude. Throughout her career she has never let the moment get to her, always keeping her emotions in control even though she wears her heart on her sleeve. This Iowa Dream team is going to have 2-3 guards that can really handle it but I think their leader at Point will be Pagniano. She is fantastic at setting up the teammates around her for success, no matter what the objective is. She has been a constant producer over her high school career and I expect that on the road over these next few months as well.

has had to switch up roles a little bit. Last winter she was a Point Guard, that had to set the pace of play for her team and facilitate at a high rate. When she did this, her team was successful and because of that, they brought home their first State Title. This season Pagniano has had to move into move of the scoring mindset. The group around her at the moment is younger and is still trying to find their groove in the high school game. Last night in the Spartans 9 point win, Pagniano ended with 24 points (4/10), including going 10-14 from the free throw line with 3 Steals. I would usual expect more of a spread out stat line from a player at the Point position with a good team but like I said above, her role this season has changed and things are different. You can’t knock it because this has helped the Spartans up until this point in their season and into the State Tournament next week. It’ll be intriguing how they play in Round One. Most of their players have experience from last year but anything can happen when you make it this far.

Pleasant Valley is coming off its first State Title for women’s basketball in school history and they are looking to keep that momentum rolling this Winter. The Point Guard that stood out and led this team a title last season, will be back this season for her Junior year and that is

. Pagniano is a smaller Point Guard with a lot of heart. Other than being efficient, crafty, and displaying great touch on the basketball, she has shown over this past six months that she is a killer. She wants to win and she will do anything to make that happen for her team. Not only does Reagan have the skill-side of this sport down, she has the Will-side of it down as well. Meaning that she is the type of player that can Will her team to win games in the end and that is not something you see everyday. This is a college level Point Guard and I’m not sure what it’s going to take to get collegiate recruiters to realize that but the sooner they do, the better.

moves up on the list after putting her name in the records books with her Pleasant Valley Spartans team as they brought home their first state championship this season after finishing the year undefeated. Pagniano showed out at the state tournament and frankly, all season. She is a quick point guard with a fast first step. She is smaller in size but makes up for it with her ability to handle and create space. During this season she showed off on several occasions that she can basically get any shot she wants when she is guarded 1 on 1, no matter the size difference. On top of all this she showed that she is efficient and has ice in her veins when it matters down the stretch of big games, all season long, including the state championship. This is Another player who is in the All Iowa Attack program that will be showing off her skill to a wider audience this upcoming AAU season, something I’m excited to see first hand.

is the starting point guard for the Pleasant Valley Spartans. Correction, now she is the starting point guard of the 5A state champion Pleasant Valley Spartans and she played like it all week long. When this season first tipped off most of the hype around them was about the Vice sisters, Halle and Quinn, and how productive they could be this season. Little did we know that the Spartans had a few “secret” weapons up their sleeves, one being in the form of

. Pagniano is a fast guard with a solid jump shot when her defender goes under a screen. She did a fantastic job of handling pressure while limiting her turnovers, distributed the ball to the right teammates in the right moments, and was an ice-cold killer in the fourth quarter for her team. Going 4/4 from the free throw line in the last 2 minutes to help her school secure the state title. Being there first hand, this was a special game for Reagan, a game I think her and her teammates will always remember. Most importantly this week I think she really showed everyone there that size doesn’t matter. She stands as one of the smaller starting PG’s in this tournament and she showed everyone that stuff like that doesn’t matter. If you work hard, dedicate yourself, and love this game then you can accomplish anything you set out to do.

took a huge step in the right direction this season and has been a fantastic piece for this program in several different aspects. She has been the #2 scoring option that this group so desperately needed, she has been their best guard on the perimeter, she has been a menace on the defensive side of the ball, an mores she has been a great teammate to those around her. She makes good choices for the most part and it has really made a difference in the long run for this team. She is going to keep moving without the ball, finding her spots, and making open shots. I’m excited to see her do all this on the biggest stage with some of the brightest lights. I’m sure she, and this group, will not disappoint.
