At the next level Mya Crawford Mya Crawford 5'7" | SG Ankeny Centennial | 2025 State IA is going to be a defensive specialist, while also is someone that can step up to play some PG/SG under pressure on the offensive side of the ball. To kick off the 2025 calendar year, Crawford hit the 1,000 point mark with her Jaguar’s squad. This accomplishment is a big deal when you consider the success that this team has had the past couple of years. To be able to score at a thorough rate is a necessity in today’s game at the next level and I think that Crawford is going to grow into her own even more over the next couple of years. She just needs to get acclimated to the college environment and the rest could be history.

One of the best defenders that the state of Iowa has to offer this Winter comes to us in the form of Mya Crawford Mya Crawford 5'7" | SG Ankeny Centennial | 2025 State IA of Ankeny Centennial High School. Crawford stands out because of the chip on her shoulder that she competes with on both sides of the floor. Most of the time, this is the player that is tasked with guarding the opposing team’s best offensive prospect, while also needing to run the offense on that side of things. Drake is going to love Crawford when she gets there but prior to that, she has one more chance to make the most of the high school floor and she is ready to make that last.

Someone that is in the conversation for best Guard defender in the state is Mya Crawford Mya Crawford 5'7" | SG Ankeny Centennial | 2025 State IA of Ankeny Centennial High School. Crawford is someone that can get after it on both ends of the floor with her high motor, high energy, and competitive demeanor. She is someone that doesn’t take losing lightly and that has helped her gain a lot of success throughout her basketball career up until this point. Following her Senior season, when she gets to Drake, she is going to standout to her teammates as a scrappy defender and someone that everyone loves to compete on the hardwood with. She should be a in-state player that gets a lot of love for the Bulldogs these next few years and I can’t wait to see that unfold first hand.

If you love the game of basketball and the sport of competition, you love Mya Crawford Mya Crawford 5'7" | SG Ankeny Centennial | 2025 State IA ‘s play-style and demeanor. Crawford is coming off of a successful campaign with her All Iowa Attack 17U EYBL program and she is looking to capitalize on a big Winter before heading to Drake. Crawford is going to be able to see the floor with the Bulldogs early on in her career if she plays the type of defense at the next level, that she is playing on the high school floor. Obviously, that is a night and day difference in competition but she is used to playing national competition on the road during AAU so she should be fine. As thing for in this Fall League, she should fair well, no matter what because she can defend at a high rate.

“The more I watching Mya Crawford Mya Crawford 5'7" | SG Ankeny Centennial | 2025 State IA compete, the more I love the heart she plays with. Crawford is your ideal role player on her AIA 17U EYBL team. She comes in for spot minutes when needed, she can defend better than most at the guard position, and she hits open shots when she does decided to take them. From a coaching perspective, you can’t ask for much more. During her first few games she has been one of the most exciting to watch on the EYBL level and I hope she builds on that going into day 2.”

Mya Crawford Mya Crawford 5'7" | SG Ankeny Centennial | 2025 State IA is one of the best defenders that the state of Iowa has to offer from any Class or age level and that helps her come in at the #7 spot in this Update. Crawford is competing on the stacked and nationally ranked All Iowa Attack 17U EYBL team because of her defensive capabilities. On a team that has 4+ Top 25 ranked prospects for their perspective Class, it says something if you are the best at anything and Crawford is their best defender at the Guard position. Their team runs a zone but she has the ability to step out and defend her opponent in the full court for an entire contest if asked too. Defense gets you and keeps you on the floor so this will help her see the court when she is competing with the Drake Bulldogs following her Senior year with Ankeny Centennial.

Mya Crawford Mya Crawford 5'7" | SG Ankeny Centennial | 2025 State IA is another impressive guard that is on this roster. Crawford is a Drake Women’s basketball commit and she is someone that comes off the bench for this group in relief.. She isn’t going to be the one to score 30 points against the top rated defenses in the country but she is someone that can create off the dribble and distribute to those that are open around her. During the high school year she really holds her own and shows that she is one of the best 2025’s in the state of Iowa. As long as she keeps that confidence and she keeps doing her thing, she is going to be someone that we highlight for the next year or so prior to her being a Bulldog. She is going to be one of those players at the college level that everyone calls a hometown hero and I’m here for it. She has a solid attitude and she competes with a chip on her shoulder every time she takes the floor so I can’t wait to see how that translates moving forward.

Ankeny Centennial put together a season that they should be proud of. They beat some of the best teams throughout the state of Iowa, no matter what Class they were in. In their team’s success, a player that their entire offense ran through was Point Guard, Mya Crawford Mya Crawford 5'7" | SG Ankeny Centennial | 2025 State IA . Crawford is an athlete, that competes with her emotion on her sleeve. She moves effortlessly with the ball in her hands but she is also able to produce at the 2-guard spot as well. There is no doubt that her best ability is with the basketball, coming down the floor. More times than not, she is leading her teammates by example and doing it with ease, putting up major stat lines over her entire high school career for the most part. It’s not going to be easy to come into a program like Drake and see the floor right away but I do think that Crawford can bring some positives to this team. If she worries about her own job and plays with a chip on her shoulder, she is going to thrive and that goes for anyone in this type of situation.

One of the most exciting players in the state has recently committed to the Drake Bulldogs and it’s time we talk about it. Mya Crawford Mya Crawford 5'7" | SG Ankeny Centennial | 2025 State IA , the starting SG of Ankeny Centennial, will suit up with the Bulldogs following her Senior year after this season. Crawford is electric on the court and a blast to watch. Not only is she skilled with the ball, athletic, and knowledgeable but she plays with her heart of her sleeve. Last season at the state tournament, I had a chance to see Crawford compete a few times and each game she was killing it skill wise, while also being a vocal and emotional leader. On big plays, she was hyping up her teammates and screaming with them in retaliation on both sides of the floor whenever anything positive would happen. Looking forward, Centennial is going to have a nice season this winter and in a lot of ways it’s going to be because of the play of Crawford. They will be competing with a chip on their shoulder from last year so expect them to come out hungry.

Mya Crawford Mya Crawford 5'7" | SG Ankeny Centennial | 2025 State IA was one of my favorite players to watch last year in high school basketball throughout the state of Iowa. Crawford plays with emotion. She understands when to pump her teammates up compared to when she needs to get on them about a problem she sees on the floor. This spring/summer Crawford had another standout season for her All Iowa Attack EYBL team. She was moving to the open spots on the floor and getting looks at the basket, rebounding at a high rate against alike-size opponents, defending the 1-3 position depending on if she had to switch, and most importantly-she was a consistent communicator on the court at all times. When you add all of these things together, you get a Division-1 basketball player and thats what Crawford is. She currently holds a few offers, with more on their way this high school season if she keeps it simple and plays “her” game. Something more than do-able.
