Johnston has earned stellar reports from across the network during the past 15 months. Skilled guard, who can fill it up from deep. Especially with range that extends past the college line. Also had good handles, playing strong and smart off the bounce. Has filled up the stat sheet this spring, proving she’s more than just a scorer. Good name to track, with the potential to take off this winter for VCS.

A crafting ball handler that weaves her way in and out of players as if they were cones. Changes direction on the dribble always trying to move forwards and not backwards. Good vision off the dribble finding open players on the block or spotted up on the wing for kick out shot. Tough driver to the rim that uses her body to create the space needed against a shot blocker. List as a shooting guard as well because of her shooting ability. The player that does not mind sacrificing scoring doing whatever is needed for her team to win. Stat sheet filler: 8-10 points, 5-8 rebounds, 5 steals, and 5assists.

I heard a little bit about Riley Johnston prior to this event but seeing her live made me realize how good she could really be. Johnston isn’t just extremely skilled, she is a relentless worker. She is someone that is in love with this sport and that can take you far if you stay dedicated to your craft. She doesn’t seem to make things complicated by doing too much, instead she takes what the defense gives her while having the ability to adapt in the blink of an eye. She has a shifty dribble, great pickups in the lane when she is attacking her defender, and she can knock down jumpers when given space/time. This is another 2028 prospect with a very bright future. If she continues to kill it like she has this Spring/Summer already, the sky truly is the limit for her in the long run.
