Leighton Inhofe
About Leighton
Expert Analysis
Sam Duren | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Inhofe’s gritty play helped turn around JYD’s slow start. She’s all action on the defensive end. Applying on the ball pressure, either out right taking the ball or her quick trapping leading to bad passes. Unselfish and smart with her offensive decisions. There’s a lot to like about her attention to detail on the defensive end. It wasn’t her best shooting weekend, but she did have strong shooting performances at the high school level this winter. If she can combine her defensive impact with a good shoot performance this weekend in Houston, she could be a very popular name for college coaches.

Inhofe made waves as a freshman thanks to her combo of athleticism and defensive abilities. She flies around for blocked shots, forces steals and plays with a notable edge. As a sophomore she has improved her perimeter shooting. There’s still a streakiness aspect to her shooting, but when on she can fill it up in a hurry. What is particular impressive is she has improved her ability to get off jumpers while shooting off the dribble. This development makes her long term ceiling that much higher. In the short term, she’s helped Berryhill to 19 wins and are a potential dark horse to make State in the always rugged Class 4A.

4A sleeper Berryhill improved to 5-0 by wining the JT Dixon Memorial Tournament at Haskell. They won the title 56-54 over a likely Class 3A State Tournament team, Keys. In that game it was the sophomore who was a star for Berryhill. She went OFF for 31 points, including 5-6 shooting from three. Defensive capabilities and toughness have never been a question for “Bug”. But if she’s going to shoot the ball like that, then the sky is the limit for another talented member of Oklahoma’s Class of 2028. The Maidens are now 13th in the recent Class 4A coaches rankings.

Defensive minded sophomore, helping Berryhill to a season opening win with a line of 17 points, 6 assists and 2 blocks. Not included in the Hudl clips is a block where she flew out to swat a shooter. She might’ve spilled somebody’s popcorn or drink with the way she spiked the ball into the stands. What is included in the hudl clips is her range. And it’s serious range, the last two threes are from 25+ feet. She drained them cleanly and with great form. Promising start for a dynamic prospect.

Listed as a power forward but I would not back off against Leighton from deep. A shooter that has range for a PF. Event showed a dribble step back off the ball screen. Nice handles int he open court that grab a defensive rebound pushing the ball with eyes up looking to score in transition. Stronger driver that uses a tough drop step spin move for the finish.
On defense an excellent rebounder that creates space to grab that board above her head. Leighton is one of the great 2028 class Berryhill has. Do not sleep on Berryhill this season.

Inhofe’s 2028 squad was one of the best in not only Oklahoma, but regionally. Her “3 and D” attributes were a key part of their success. And the consistent three point shooting, steals and great defensive positioning are the key parts of her highlights. Also does some damage off the bounce, with strong takes. So expect her all around scoring to grow. But hitting perimeter shots and making plays on defense are always a ticket to the next level.

A 2028 that can get hot from the 3-point line in a hurry changing the game. Great height, size and movement for a 2-4 position type player. Nice footwork into the shot that has hands ready stepping into a rhythm shot with a sweet release. Moves without the ball on drives keep the right angle always giving the driver an option for the kick for the shot. A player that does whatever is needed to help her team win. The size and quickness on defense allow her to be versatile on defense which is a great fit for a 4/5 offense that plays bunch of guards. Strong rebounding guard on defense that works for the position before the ball comes off the rim.
The stat line may not jump out at you but it is balanced on a very talented team. Just showing you the type of player she is. Trust me I have scouted against Leighton in school ball and she is a player you have to account for if you want to win. Expecting a big sophomore season from this player

One of the top defensive players in Oklahoma’s freshman class, she’s a mobile wing with great anticipation instincts. She explodes on the perimeter to block three pointers, or deflect passes. Type of player who’s reading of the game and energy makes it seem like she’s always in the right place at the right time. Wasn’t her best scoring game for the in person viewing, but has had a very productive freshman campaign for the Maidens.

Impressed at the PGH freshman showcase by doing a bit of everything. Which is a good trait to have in a camp setting to show that you know how play. An even better trait is being a bucket getting and if the boxscore of her first varsity game was any indication, Inhofe can fill it up. She poured in 27 points in a win over Mannford. It was a quieter second game in a loss against Perkins-Tyron, but Infhoe is still up to 6 made threes on the season. Will be keeping tabs on as an emerging scoring threat.
