Saamyia was lightning in a bottle at the Freshman Showcase and her two-way impact earned recognition as a Top Performer. Saamyia changed directions suddenly with a quick crossover dribble to beat her defender baseline and finished a tough contested layup. She caused a travel by closing out full-speed and blocked a shot. Saamyia drained a straightaway three-pointer and buried a one-dribble pull-up jumper near the baseline. One of Saamyia’s highlight plays was when she created space with a shifty low-crossover dribble, landed in a step-back, and swished the open three-pointer up top. Her scrappy ball-pressure created steals and transition points.
