of Mount Vernon High School. Wright showed up all we needed to see to end this high school season at the State Tournament. She led her team from the front, either as their leading scoring threat or creating threat at the PG position. She got to every spot she wanted offensively, always giving herself a clean attempt in one way or another down the stretch. Defensively, she stood out as someone that is going to make you work. She doesn’t slack on that side of the ball and that shows. All in all, this is another D1 prospect. Just like everyone on this Top Five list. If she works on her weaknesses as she simultaneously sharpens her strengths, she is going to be a leader to watch at the collegiate level one day.

were good all season long, which led them to an appearance at the 3A State Tournament in DSM this last week. Wright, the future D1 PG, strung together a productive week has a whole. She played her PG really well as a creator, scorer, and defender, ultimately leading to a lot of success on the hardwood. Mount Vernon might of fallen short of their goal of winning another 3A State Title but they will be back and Wright will be their unquestionable leader moving into the near future with the Mustangs. She is a game changer on and off of the ball and that’s going to be on full display in her contests to come.

is a poised, crafty point guard who always seems to be in control of the game. Her footwork on the pickup is solid, she handles the ball at an elite level, and she just knows how to make winning plays. She flashed a number of smooth moves on Saturday to create her own shot — my favorite being a cross-jab into a same foot finish with her left hand. Skillset aside, Wright put the Mustangs on her back late in the fourth. She hit a lob shot to push Mount Vernon’s lead to five, then proceeded to get steals on back-to-back Mid-Prairie possessions to secure the win. Her intuition and fearlessness were crucial to get Mount Vernon over the line. Finishing with a game-high 26 points,

and that should continue into this weekend when Mount Vernon takes on another high ranking opponent in Waverly-Shell Rock High School. Wright is a gamer. Always has been. Someone that gets busy at the PG spot as a top notch producer for those around her. The best way to describe Wright is that she makes everyone else around her better when she is on the floor and that’s all you can really ask for from a coaching perspective so it’s always fun to watch her compete. She plays the game the right way and I would expect nothing less this weekend in their highly anticipated matchup.

is a Top PG out of this 2028 Class in Iowa. Wright is an orchestrator. She sets up her teammates where they should be on the floor when things break down, she can control game tempo, and she is pretty skilled individually off the attack on offense. Defensively, she is pest-y to say the least. She sticks to her matchup with high intent and she usually creates some chaos in the steals department because of that. Wright has that Division-1 talent. She has started off this Winter with some awesome showings and hopefully that can continue moving into the thick of the season when we come back from Winter break.

of Mount Vernon High School. Wright competes as PG #1 and she played with an aggressive edge. She is calculated in whatever she is trying to accomplish on the court, always seeming to be in the right place at the right time by chance. Wright is just a solid overall player. She competes hard on both sides of the floor, she doesn’t make mistakes often, and she is a born leader by definition. She will do whatever is asked of her from a coach and that just speaks to her communication skills/discipline. This Winter will be a test for Mount Vernon. They lose their monster Center to graduation from last season so how they adapt to that will be crucial to their success this season.

Another group that is going to have some questions moving into this Winter is Mount Vernon. MV won State last Winter but they lose their dominance in the middle with their Post going to college and they lose their HC due to an in-house coaching change so we will see they adapt to other of these situations. Something that won’t change is the production from PG –

. Wright is a future D1 commit, who can Will a team to success whenever she feels like it. She is a very talented and efficient player, that doesn’t force bad shots and that doesn’t make stupid mistakes when the ball is in her possession. Instead, she leads with a crafty dribble, elite vision, and a willingness to adapt in any given moment. Wright is only going to get better with experience as she continues to compete and that starts this Winter with the Mustangs.

jumps off the screen as a pass-first PG. It doesn’t matter what floor she is competing on. It could be for a EYBL National Title, it could be for an Iowa Class 4A State Title – Wright is someone that leads by example with communication and systematic play. She is the type you can trust with the ball in any big moments. When things break down, she knows how to take over but she isn’t going to force anything unneeded. All in all, Wright plays the right way with a lot of energy, craftiness, and dedication. That is going to take her to the D1 level before we know it.

received her first D1 offer this past few days when Mercer threw their hat in the ring. Wright is coming off of a State Title with her 3A Mount Vernon team, A Nike JR EYBL 8th Grade National Title, all while put together another memorable season on the AAU floor once again this Spring/Summer. That is a whole lot of winning right there if you ask me and I don’t expect it to stop anytime soon. Wright is a winner. She will show us a lot this Winter when she has to be a main producer for her Mustangs team but I don’t expect these D1 offers to slow down. As long as she keeps working, this is definitely a future D1 PG at the next level.

of Mount Vernon High School and AIA EYBL. Wright is your traditional PG. Someone that you give the ball to and tell her to go to work. She is pass-first and loves to make the others around her better with her creating ability. She can also score herself at all offensive levels but she definitely thrives while making the big plays for her team at the PG spot as a passer. It’ll be interesting to see how she fairs this upcoming Winter with a new coach and a bunch of new teammates at the Varsity level. If they play their cards right, they will be just fine and Wright will continue to thrive.
