As the 2028 Class moves forward into their Junior year of Varsity action on the High School floor within the next few months Jhaliana Guy continues to hold onto the #1 overall ranking for the group. Not only does she hold this #1 position within her home state of Iowa, she also is the #18th rated hooper in the Country by ESPNW at this time. You can't compare Guy's basketball journey to anyone else that we have seen out of this state the last couple of years. Maybe the closest other would be Audi Crooks out of Bishop Garrigan but even that doesn't really compare with how often Guy is on the road, competing at high level showcases all around the Country for all sorts of different brands. With her collegiate recruitment opening back up it seems like almost every P4 school in the Country has interest in recruiting her right now so where will she end up ultimately? That's the fun part. We will just have to wait and see!

Braylyn Birmingham is the clear #2 rated 2028 that Iowa has to offer. There isn't much more she could do at this point in my opinion. She just need to keep stacking her days. She shows up on any floor you put her, high school or AAU. She is consistent on both ends, never taking off plays on either side of the ball. All while being a vocal leader, who leads by example over everything else. It means something when someone can consistently show up, no matter the circumstances and that is the case with Birmingham.

This is a MAJOR season for Kelli Kalb in my eyes. Kalb should be the center piece of the Johnston Dragons offense this Winter in more ways than one. She should be their best overall shooter from the outside. She can also handle fairly well, rebound, and play some solid defense against good competition. The Guard lead the last few years for the Dragons has gone through Jenica Lewis, who is now at Norte Dame. With Lewis gone due to graduation, that's going to open up some opportunities on both offense and defense. Opportunities that will be available for Kalb to take control of. This is a future D1 player. She does have some options looking towards her collegiate future at the moment but I'm sure she is locked in at the task at hand over the next six months. That being her high school season with the Dragons.

Sadie, "The Silent Killer", McCann is one of the state's most low-key prospects. This is a talented CG, that can get hot in a hurry on offense, while being scrappy and annoying to her individual matchups on defense. McCann is the type that you have on a scouting report prior to the game but then you don't feel like she hurt you too bad until you check the box score and then you realize she had over 20 points, with multiple rebounds, assists, and steals throughout. From afar we have seen McCann take a few D1 visits over the last few months, mainly out of the Chicagoland area. I'm not sure if that's where she will end up when it's all said and done but any of those options would be a great choice for her if that's what is decided. All I know is that for now - McCann comes into this Update at #4 with a chance to move up this list this Winter if she plays to her full potential.

Rounding out The Top Five in this 2028 Update is Savanna Wright of Mount Vernon High School and Stealth GUAA (MO) AAU. Wright committed last night to the D1 level when she announced that she will be attending Murray State after these next two years of high school ball. This is a nice pickup for the Racers. This is a PG, who should be able to come in right away and see playing time - depending on who else is on roster around her. Wright is a lightning quick PG, who makes smart choices when she is coming down the court with the rock. She is a solid three point shooter, who can get hot quickly, which is what will keep the defense playing honest throughout her career. Defensively - this is someone that most others don't want to see. She works her angles to a T and opponents don't know how to deal with that. This is a loaded 2028 Class overall. It's the hardest Class we have to evaluate as a whole so to be within the Top Five is an accomplishment and something that shouldn't be taken lightly. Wright can play and I'm excited to see what she does this Winter as Mount Vernon's #1 option.
