Thornton is a battler and left it on the court to the tine of 19 points and 7 rebounds. Gave BTW fits at times on the block. But she’s more than just energy and determination, there’s been a good development in her shooting touch. She drained her one three attempt, and went 6-7 from the charity stripe. Both very good signs about her potential to succeed at the next level. North Texas is getting a good prospect, who will help immediately in the interior. With the room to continue to grow her all around game.

Thornton seemingly always brings it while on the court, and impressively flies around and make plays. She had a stretch to close the third and to start the fourth where she flew out of nowhere to block a shot at the rim. A few possessions later she denied and stole an entry pass and her outlet pass led to a transition score. Then shortly after that she got low and ripped a loose ball away from an opposing guard. The combination of her size and defensive versatility remains very impressive.

Soon to be a freshman twin-tower with the mean green, Thornton’s Del City Lady Eagles are currently 9-2. I was able to watch a lot of her game against Classen SAS. Was very impressed with how the state’s #1 Center prospect reacts to good things her teammates do. Towering presence that is capable of turning a blocked shot into a coast-to-coast layup for herself. Game is going to translate well to a sped up Women’s college game.

A quiet start but a loud finish for the future North Texas post. She gave the opposition problems when she got the ball on the block, good post up moves with a soft touch. Stayed aggressive on the glass, even getting her own putback. Did a good job of contesting and blocking shots without fouling, even having the movement to keep up with a driving guard and then swatting the attempt. Liked the swagger and aggression she played with in the second half, seemed to be contagious energy.

Thronton’s recruitment was a rocket ship this spring and summer. She racked up D1 offers from all over the country before also selecting North Texas for her collegiate home. When the rankings were last updated over the summer, it was noted that even after a strong rise, she was likely too low. This time it has been fully corrected with her now in the top 20 as a game changing force around the basket.
The Del City Lady Eagle is tall, strong and mobile. Making her a good rim protector, especially as her wingspan looks to be longer than her already impressive height. It was apparent during my first viewing of her at the Class 5A State Tournament that her raw physical tools gave her an upside few in Oklahoma could match. And her production with Team Moriah Jefferson backed that up. She was rewarded with the next level opportunities and has sat the stage for a huge senior season in Oklahoma.

is a Stock Riser when she is already the #2 ranked center in the state but her stock has risen this summer. Early spring she was receiving offers from several D2 programs. After this spring and summer playing with Team Moriah Jefferson she has received offers from several D1 programs. I am expecting the phone be ringing even more after the last Live Period.

Game Watched: vs Lawton MacArthur, February 6th
With great height and promising movements, Thornton was a very interesting prospect to scout at the 5A State Tournament earlier this month. That continued when watching back the game against Lawton, where she was a force on the offensive glass. She has good hands and activity level, which allowed to feast on putbacks. Her high potential also showed with a face up move from nearly the three point line. She saw a clear lane, put the ball on the deck, it only took a few dribbles and she was at the rim where she finished through contact for an old fashion three point play. Height, moves well, and promising as a finisher around the rim, what’s not to like about the 6 foot 2, Class of 2025 center?

Raw but promising, Thornton has legit size and is a great mover for her height and frame. Those aspects flashed on some blocks and the way she gets off the floor for rebounds. She was able to record 10 points and 7 rebounds against the talented Lady Indians. The junior requires further monitoring thanks to height and flashes of athletic gifts that can’t be taught.
