were nearly identical this year and they are right next to each other in the rankings. Johnson will play with the ETG team this summer after a year where she made 55 3-point shots on an

43 percent mark from distance. Johnson’s development and ability to shoot it at that kind of level over the spring and summer could land her major college interest. At 5-9, Johnson also brings plenty of length on the defensive end where she added 2.6 rebounds and 2.5 steals this past winter.

Bennington has a deep underclassman group that is going to be around for years to come. Well now they will be upperclassmen officially come this Fall but you understand the point. Someone from their 2027 group that can really make it rain is SG –

. Johnson deserves to get the Kyle Korver treatment for how well she shoots it at times. Which is, every time she sets 1 screen, she gets 4-5 in return within the offensive possession. If she can catch fire early, it could be a career night for her as the sharpshooter. Johnson has some college interest already and that will grow more over-time. She is dedicated and that is going to take her places before you know it.

Bennington made it to their Class’s State Tournament, showing their poise and depth at every position basically. An individual for this group that has been playing Varsity minutes since she was a freshman is

. Johnson is a shooter, that has an identical shot every time she lets it fly. There is never a moment when Johnson isn’t prepared on the outside to let it go. She is usually around the perimeter, low in her stance, looking for an opponrutity to show her best ability. This Winter she did a great job of switching it up, not only shooting the trey ball and showing off her versatility a little more. I’m just hoping that can continue onward. In this Update, Johnson comes in at #12.

If you have been following along moving into this Winter, Bennington High School is in an interesting situation. They are a program with some solid upperclassman producers, but their next level talent is in the 2027 and 2028 Classes for the most part. Someone out of the 2027 Class, that most already know as a lights out Shooting Guard is Skylar Johnson. Other than being a quick acting SG, Johnson has really worked on her defense during the AAU season and it’s starting to show. She has registered 3.5 SPG in their first two contests of the year and I bet that she keeps this trend on the rise. If you want to play at a high college level as a SG, you need length, a shooting ability obviously, and you have to be able to defend your position. Johnson checks off all of those boxes moving into the thick of her Sophomore season.

Bennington High School maybe in the most unique situation this Winter because of all of the talent that they will have returning. Don’t get me wrong, they are going to take their lumps and bruises but in general, it’ll make them better. One of their underclassman returning to the starting line up will be SG – Skylar Johnson. Johnson is a natural shooter. You can tell just by the way she lets it go. No matter the situation, her fundamental shot always looks the exact same and that’s the recipe of an accurate shooter, from a basic understanding. Johnson is also able to handle, create, and rebound but she definitely thrives at letting to go from three so hopefully that keeps up as she works on the rest of her play-style this upcoming Winter.

When it comes to Skylar Johnson Skylar Johnson 5'9" | SG Bennington | 2027 State NE ‘s game, it is intriguing. Johnson is someone with a solid combination of size, skill, and athletic ability. She works hard on and off of the ball, always making an impact even if she isn’t scoring in bunches. When players are looking at being recruiting to compete at the next level, versatility is key. The more systems you can play in, the better the chances are that you will get multi-offers/interest. I think that Johnson embodies this at the moment. She is really versatile on both sides of the ball with her athletic ability. She can be moved around to almost any spot and she is going to show her worth in more ways than one before that contest is over. On this team, I wouldn’t be surprised if she was placed at the 2 or 3. She won’t be the tallest with this group but she will be one of the most athletic, making up for height in most situations. I’m excited to see what Johnson can do on a competitive floor. She put together a nice Freshman season of high school ball this past season but now she is ready to take that play to a whole other level.
