Au-Sable finished as North Star League Little Dipper Co-Champs, splitting wins with Mio. They beat Hale twice and added another victory against Oscoda, finishing the regular season at 19-3. Sophie averaged 14.1 points (71% FT%, 46% FG%), 14.2 rebounds, five blocks, 3.7 steals, and 1.8 assists per game. She led the team in points, rebounds, blocks, and shooting percentage. Sophie enters the MHSAA record books with 326 rebounds in a season, single-game blocks with 15 vs. Atlanta in December, and blocked shots in a season with 114. Sophie had 17 double-doubles, including a triple-double in 21 games. She scored a career high of 34 points during a 54-30 win against Posen. Sophie was described as reliable and an all-around difference maker. “The biggest contribution we get from Sophie is consistency and stability. In addition to being a defensive presence, she can and does start the fast break after pulling down a defensive rebound. Whether hitting an outlet, finishing at the basket, or dropping it off at the basket, we can count on her to make good decisions in the transition game.” Sophie is on pace to pass 1,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds as a senior.

Sophie has emerged as a dominant presence for Au Gres-Sims, making her impact felt on nearly every possession. A force around the basket, she consistently piles up points and rebounds, putting together double-double performances on a regular basis. Her rim protection has been just as impressive, as she alters countless shots and swats away attempts at a high rate, making opponents think twice before attacking inside. On the boards, Sophie is relentless, tracking down rebounds on both ends and turning defense into quick offense. What makes her even more dangerous is her ability to step away from the paint and connect from deep, giving her team a true inside-out threat and making her one of the toughest matchups in the area.

Sophie came to the Headliners Invitational and made it clear that she has what it takes to be an outstanding college forward. Her consistent three-point shooting during the drills showed me another element to her game. Sophie’s height, muscular frame, footwork, effort, and instincts make her a tough matchup inside. Her determined rebounding, precise passes, and strong finishes were separators during games. Sophie was a breakout player and earned All-Showcase Second Team.

Sophie has length, a strong frame, and physicality that give her great upside as a college forward. She was locked in from the beginning. Sophie filled it up from three-point range during the shooting drills, knocking down perimeter jumpers from different spots. Her rebounding created additional scoring opportunities for Team Fever, and Sophie made a perfect extra pass to an open teammate for the assist. She finished well around the basket off two feet and drained a long jumper from the wing. Sophie proved herself under the spotlight at the Headliners Invitational and was a Top Performer at the Showcase.

Sophie is the type of prospect the Headliners Invitational was designed for. A forward who is being under recruited that will have the ball touches in drills and games in front of college coaches to make a splash. She’s a double-double machine and all-around impact player for Au-Gres Sims. Sophie averaged 13.6 points, 12 rebounds, and 2.7 blocks per game as a sophomore. I’m excited to see her in the gym on Sunday.
