We have great pairs in the backcourt handling the ball, knocking down shots, and making plays for their teams. Let’s take a look at some of the entertaining backcourt duos in the state.
Zamareya Jones Zamareya Jones 5'6" | PG North Pitt | 2024 State NC & Jordan Speller Jordan Speller 5'6" | PG North Pitt | 2027 State NC – North Pitt
Our first duo comes with a senior and freshman working together to make some exceptional plays. Zamareya Jones Zamareya Jones 5'6" | PG North Pitt | 2024 State NC has been giving us four years of top notch high school basketball handling the rock well and shooting it from deep. She knows how to make smart plays getting the passes to her teammates hitting them in stride. The addition of Jordan Speller Jordan Speller 5'6" | PG North Pitt | 2027 State NC means we get to see two playmakers with the same savvy skills and finesse moving with the ball. Speller can already read the floor pointing to where the pass should go if she’s on the receiving end as she moves into it, or she is the one making the nice pass by her defenders finding her teammates’ hands.
Lili Booker Lili Booker 5'7" | CG Mallard Creek | 2024 State NC & Elle Stone Elle Stone 5'10" | CG Mallard Creek | 2025 State NC – Mallard Creek
Lili Booker Lili Booker 5'7" | CG Mallard Creek | 2024 State NC is in her last year of high school basketball with Mallard Creek, and she has found a counterpart that knows how to work as hard as she does in Elle Stone Elle Stone 5'10" | CG Mallard Creek | 2025 State NC . These two guards are certainly fun to watch on offense knocking down shots from around the perimeter, attacking the basket finding the gaps, and getting the nice bounce pass into their teammates. What may be even more fun to watch, though, is their defense. The pressure they generate on full court presses has been lethal to their opponents, and they are sure to come up with steals and points off of these turnovers.
Taylor Barner Taylor Barner 5'7" | PG Panther Creek | 2024 State NC & Olivia Tucker Olivia Tucker 5'7" | SG Panther Creek | 2024 State NC – Panther Creek
These two are the only senior guards we have in this group. They’ve been working together for years knowing how to read their opponents and make some plays. Barner typically takes on the point guard role bringing the ball up creating space for herself pulling up for her smooth jumper or getting some offensive plays going with the help of Tucker. Tucker can attack the basket from anywhere, and her shot from deep is certainly something opponents need to watch out for. They like to push the tempo using their quickness to get by defenders with ease.
Kamryn Kitchen Kamryn Kitchen 5'9" | SG Independence | 2025 State NC & Kaylee Carson Kaylee Carson 5'8" | PG Independence | 2024 State NC – Independence
We have missed seeing Kaylee Carson Kaylee Carson 5'8" | PG Independence | 2024 State NC on the court but are happy to see her back for her senior year. She is shifty when handling the ball knowing exactly how to use her moves to create the open space. She brings dynamic back to the Patriots partnering with Kamryn Kitchen Kamryn Kitchen 5'9" | SG Independence | 2025 State NC who always finds ways to score on all levels. Kitchen brings a lot of energy for her teammates adding some special flare to her moves knocking down her shots with hands in her face. Carson and Kitchen both know how to get to the rim finishing well finding the open lanes.
