Expert Analysis

Hunt continues to establish herself as one of the more intriguing young centers in Indiana because of her size, strength, and physical presence around the basket. She plays with toughness and consistently embraces contact on both ends of the floor. Offensively, Hunt showed flashes of strong touch around the rim while using her body well to establish deep post position. Once she catches the ball in good spots, she has the strength to finish through defenders and create scoring opportunities inside.
Defensively, Hunt impacts the game with rebounding and rim protection. She competes hard on the glass and consistently battles for position against opposing post players. Her ability to contest shots and protect the paint gives her additional value defensively. She also runs the floor well for a player at her position and continues improving her overall mobility. As she develops more consistency offensively and continues polishing her footwork, Hunt has the potential to become one of the stronger post players in Indiana’s 2028 class. She is definitely a player college coaches should already have on their radar moving forward.

Zion’s intrigue from the next level started back during the high school season. She has good size, an athletically strong frame, nice length, and she gets up & down the floor very well for a post her age. She, along with several of her travel teammates, drew a number of onlookers throughout the Summer, but I felt like her growth from March through July was tremendous. She looks more confident and immediate in her movements, she started to consistently score the ball around the paint, and she was a force at times on the boards and on defense.

When you first see Zion, she has good size & strength, but she’s also long and fairly athletic. Obviously, she stands out in that regard, but she has also been a kid “figuring it out.” I felt like throughout June with Lawrence North, and Monday with her WVT team, she has become much more aggressive and confident. She is more immediate offensively with the ball, scoring it better, plus her defensive rotations are improved, and she’s blocking everything.

There are some nice frontline players in this class in Central Indiana, and a few at Lawrence North. Zion is a hard worker for her age/size, she is very active at both ends of the floor, and she has a bright future ahead of her. She is willing to be physical, but she also has a wiry-strong frame that can be intimidating to opponents. Defensively, she can contribute immediately, and offensively, she works hard at her game, and I feel like more will come in time.
