The Multi-Sport Athlete!
This topic or approach seems to be a fading one in wake of specialization. Many athletes aren’t as involved with two or three sports at their high school and most certainly not year round. But there are some… still out there who thrive in doing just that! Going from sport to sport and competing at a high level against tough competition.

Here the light shines in on Waterloo East 2019 Guard Kerris Roberts. On the court Kerris is as explosive as they come, being able to create shots for herself from all angles and spots on the floor. As a 4A standout she poured in 19ppg-8rpg-4spg earning her 3rd Team All-State Honors by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association, as well as All-Region, All-District and All-Conference selections. Kerris hit milestones for the Trojans as the career Scoring and Steals leader amassing over 1,000 points and 200 steals by the end of her junior campaign. Not to mention, she is also an avid Golfer, Softball Player, six-time State Champion and nine-time All-State in track and field and deemed Iowa’s fastest girl ever in a 2018 sports brief. All of this while being an AP IB Honor Student at the top of her class!
The question often is asked what school, where is she going, what sport will she play. Being so well rounded has afforded her many opportunities at the next level. Regardless of what path she chooses a college or university somewhere will be getting a special treat in this well-rounded Exceptional Student-Athlete. We stopped in with a few questions for Kerris and her future plans
PGH, What are your plans and goals going into your senior year for girls basketball individually and team?
Kerris, To have a productive and fun season and to win as many games as possible. My goal is to get out of my comfort zone and try things that could potentially enhance my game and make us better as a team.
PGH, Have you decided on exactly what your college plans are?
Kerris, I’m going to go to a four-year university, and major in accounting. I am currently visiting schools for Track.
PGH, What advice would you give to a young lady following your path?
Kerris, Always make sure that school comes first and that you’re involved. High school may seem like a long time but it really flies by in the blink of an eye. So enjoy the brief time that you’re here and make long lasting memories.
