In the 2017-2018 season, she helped Detroit Country Day finish with a 23-4 record. <strong>Powell </strong>averaged 11ppg, 7rpg, and 5apg. Her performance throughout the season earned her a selection to the 2018 Class B All-State 1st Team.

She was recruited by programs including Bradley, Providence, Seton Hall, UMass, DePaul, and Tennessee State. <strong>Powell</strong> made her decision and committed to Minnesota. She will join former Detroit Country Day star Destiny Pitts when she becomes a Golden Gopher.
<strong>Powell</strong> has a skill set that separates her from the competition. She is super fast with quick feet. <strong>Powell </strong>uses this speed and quickness to control the pace of the game. She’s at her best when playing in an up tempo game. <strong>Powell </strong>is an excellent ball handler who can put her defender on their heels. She’s one of toughest players in the state to stop head-to-head, using her quick first step to blow by the defense. When driving to the rim, <strong>Powell </strong>is able to play through contact and get to the free throw line. She can also shoot with consistency from behind the arc.

She’s an attacking defender who likes to make plays. <strong>Powell </strong>doesn’t sit back and wait for the offense. Instead, she takes them out of their comfort zone and forces mistakes.
