Summer Rankings Update: 2027 SG Rankings Risers

The evaluation and rankings process was expedited this spring and summer due to the volume of Prep Girls Hoops tournaments in Michigan and mass participation by clubs and teams on our Prep Girls Hoops Circuit. The Prep Girls Hoops College Tour series and Prep Girls Hoops Michigan State Tournament gave us five chances to see prospects compete locally right here in Michigan. Nearly every club with college prospects in Michigan competed in front of our scouts at one Prep Girls Hoops tournament, and many clubs attended more than one. This reality created the perfect environment for us to evaluate prospects from across the state against various levels of competition.   After actively evaluating prospects during the first travel session, we now have 326 players ranked. Height, size, speed, athleticism, fundamental skill development, the position a player is projected to play at the next level, and performance in different competitive settings are all taken into account. Our goal with every class is to accurately group prospects into the correct categories of college potential/projection. By the end of senior year, each class breaks down into clear categories: Power Four/D1+, D1/D2+, D2/NAIA+/D3+/JUCO+, NAIA/D3/JUCO, and NAIA/D3 reserve. As I've written many times, the levels of college basketball intersect, cross, and differ in competitive ability throughout all the divisions. All high school classes do not have the same size, talent, or level of college talent. However, based on my tracking of commitments over the past three years, there appears to be a predictable trend in Michigan.   Based on data from the 2024, 2025, and 2026 classes, there could be approximately 410 or more prospects per grade who can play some level of college basketball. There will always be multisport athletes who don't do travel basketball or play in some remote area where we just don't get the opportunity to identify them for our rankings, despite our best efforts. Using averages from the past three classes, there may be anywhere from 10-20 D1 commits, 20-30 D2 commits, and 125-140 NAIA/D3/JUCO commits in a particular class.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">UPCOMING PGH EVENTS (Use "EvanBell10" code for discount)</h2>   The Freshman Showcase (2030s), August 22nd   <a href="https://events.prepgirlshoops.com/e/2390/register/michigan-freshman-showcase">Registration Link</a>   The Expo (2027-2029s), September 26th   <a href="https://events.prepgirlshoops.com/e/2420/register/the-expo-michigan">Registration Link</a>    Ruby was a stock riser on the PGH Circuit, delivering productive outings for KBA 17U at multiple tournaments that resulted in recognition as a Top Performer. She's a dual-threat guard in the backcourt who can light it up from three or attack gaps with her dribble to drive by defenders for layups. She's active on the glass and works hard to make a difference on the defensive end, making her an all-around player with the potential to be a solid addition to a college program.     Baylee will be a featured player in the Davison backcourt this season, and she turned in a complete effort that caught my attention during CMU Team Camp. She can create space with her shifty crossovers to penetrate off the dribble, and her quick basket cuts result in high-percentage looks at the basket. Baylee distributes the ball effectively to open teammates, finishes well off two feet, drains the open three, and keeps her hands active on the defensive end to create turnovers. She's a difference maker for the Cardinals and will be a nice pickup by a college program.     Amor had a breakout performance for [program_tooltip program_id='714458' first='Michigan' last='Cobras'] at the PGH Michigan State Tournament, and she was productive for the team throughout her AAU campaign. She's a determined defender who causes havoc with her aggressive on-ball pressure and is a persistent rebounder. Amor switches hands comfortably in the open floor and dishes out timely passes to open teammates for assists. She penetrates gaps, drives hard to the rim, doesn't shy away from contact, and finishes well in traffic. Amor has good instincts as a facilitator, can knock down the open three, and she can definitely help a college program.     Jeahna caught my attention on the PGH Circuit with [program_tooltip program_id='715769' first='Pride' last='Basketball 21']. She's a guard who's probably flying under the radar right now. Jeahna has skills, sneaky quickness, and compact strength at the guard spot that should result in opportunities to play college ball. Jeahna can rip the nets for multiple three-pointers in a game. She has a confident stroke from the outside and can knock down mid-range pullups off the bounce. Jeahna forces defenders to overplay her on the perimeter, then drives by with a dribble burst to score layups. She has a variety of crossover dribbles in her bag and will be a featured player to watch in the Birch Run backcourt this winter.     Ava was very productive for Mystics Chosen during her AAU season. She has length, get-by-you quickness off the dribble, versatility as a slasher and three-point threat, and toughness that stands out. Ava was a Top Performer at the Northwood PGH Michigan College Tour, finishing multiple and-one layups through contact, impacting games on defense, and delivering in the clutch. She gets to the free-throw line by driving hard to the basket with determination and uses her long strides to side-step defenders along the way. Ava can knock down the open three, and her pesky defense creates steals on the defensive end. She'll be a welcome addition to a college program and has offers from Macomb CC and SC4.
