Summer Rankings Update: 2027 New Additions

The evaluation and rankings process was expedited this spring and summer due to the volume of Prep Girls Hoops tournaments in Michigan and mass participation by clubs and teams on our Prep Girls Hoops Circuit. The Prep Girls Hoops College Tour series and Prep Girls Hoops Michigan State Tournament gave us five chances to see prospects compete locally right here in Michigan. Nearly every club with college prospects in Michigan competed in front of our scouts at one Prep Girls Hoops tournament, and many clubs attended more than one. This reality created the perfect environment for us to evaluate prospects from across the state against various levels of competition.   After actively evaluating prospects during the first travel session, we now have 326 players ranked. Height, size, speed, athleticism, fundamental skill development, the position a player is projected to play at the next level, and performance in different competitive settings are all taken into account. Our goal with every class is to accurately group prospects into the correct categories of college potential/projection. By the end of senior year, each class breaks down into clear categories: Power Four/D1+, D1/D2+, D2/NAIA+/D3+/JUCO+, NAIA/D3/JUCO, and NAIA/D3 reserve. As I've written many times, the levels of college basketball intersect, cross, and differ in competitive ability throughout all the divisions. All high school classes do not have the same size, talent, or level of college talent. However, based on my tracking of commitments over the past three years, there appears to be a predictable trend in Michigan.   Based on data from the 2024, 2025, and 2026 classes, there could be approximately 410 or more prospects per grade who can play some level of college basketball. There will always be multisport athletes who don't do travel basketball or play in some remote area where we just don't get the opportunity to identify them for our rankings, despite our best efforts. Using averages from the past three classes, there may be anywhere from 10-20 D1 commits, 20-30 D2 commits, and 125-140 NAIA/D3/JUCO commits in a particular class.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">UPCOMING PGH EVENTS (Use "EvanBell10" code for discount)</h2>   The Freshman Showcase (2030s), August 22nd   <a href="https://events.prepgirlshoops.com/e/2390/register/michigan-freshman-showcase">Registration Link</a>   The Expo (2027-2029s), September 26th   <a href="https://events.prepgirlshoops.com/e/2420/register/the-expo-michigan">Registration Link</a>    Performing well in front of our scouts during AAU and HS games is a great way to earn a ranking. Maggie did just that with [program_tooltip program_id='1226083' first='West' last='Michigan Drive'] and also turned in a string of impressive performances for Forest Hills Northern at the Au Sable Shootout. Danyle labeled her a "Do-it-all Player". She contributed as a perimeter scorer, slasher, distributor, defender, and persistent rebounder. I watched Maggie exemplify those same attributes at the Au Sable Shootout. She sank shots from beyond the arc, made smooth transfers to score through contact, moved well off the ball, displayed smart instincts, was a nuisance on the defensive end, crashed the glass to secure offensive rebounds, facilitated effectively, and finished well using either hand at the rim. Maggie is interested in Nursing and is a prospect with plenty of next-level upside.     Cady had her breakthrough moment during the MBA Mother's Day Classic with [program_tooltip program_id='713240' first='Strictly' last='Skills'] 17U. She has good athleticism, length, and a versatile skill set that makes her a promising two-guard/wing prospect. Her active hands close passing windows, and she's quick enough laterally to keep drivers from penetrating off the dribble. Cady has a confident and smooth stroke from beyond the arc that keeps defenses honest. She earned a ranking and should be picking up interest from colleges.     Ashlyn made quite the impression on the PGH Circuit with [program_tooltip program_id='952340' first='The' last='House'], receiving recognition as a Top Performer, while demonstrating versatile qualities that translate to the next level. She has good length, athleticism, and skills as a wing-forward. Ashlyn is a strong rebounder and finisher around the rim, which combines with her mobility to make her a very difficult matchup for opponents. She can pop out to the perimeter and sink the open three or face-up to score off determined downhill drives in traffic. Ashlyn should be on college radars right now, and she's looking to pursue a degree in Biology.     Elyanna is a crafty, high-motor point guard who turned in multiple Top Performer efforts for [program_tooltip program_id='715424' first='The' last='Naturals'] on the PGH Circuit. She's shifty and quick off the dribble. Elyanna has a burst when she attacks off the dribble and can finish at top speed in traffic with good touch. Elyanna knocks down open threes off the catch or the dribble, and her active defense turns steals into transition points. She's a playmaker on both sides of the ball and will be a solid addition to a college program. Elyanna is interested in pursuing a degree in Sports Management.     Grace made a splash on the PGH Circuit with CCE, receiving recognition as a Top Performer. Her all-around impact was a separator on the court. Grace has an accurate shot from beyond the arc, is an effective facilitator, distributes crisp passes to open teammates, pushes the pace in transition, and creates steals with her quick hands on the defensive end. She's a guard who could be a productive addition to a college program.
