It was MSTM junior sharpshooter Skylyr Stewart who was the biggest reason for the Blue Devils’ fast start, she canned five first half 3s, helping her team to a 18-7 lead after the first quarter and a 32-18 lead at half.
The second half was more even, but the MSTM 14-point cushion was never threatened.
Junior guard Maddie Stott was terrific for the Blue Devils (13-1), she scored a game-high 18 points, including nine in the fourth quarter. Jensen Archibald added 16 points for the Blue Devils, Stewart finished with 15.
Bedford (9-6) was led by Paige Oldenkamp’s 14 points, 17 rebounds and six blocks. Sophomore Kennedy Weed scored 11.

The Prospects
Jensen Archibald, 5’8 PG, 2020 (MSTM)
She’s extremely fast with the ball, and as a result is able to get into the lane with ease. The team’s leading scorer this season, Archibald was getting it done both at the rim and with a jumper in this one, and also displayed some some nifty passing. She had the best all-around game for MSTM in this one, adding five assists and five steals to her 16 points,
Maddie Stott, 5’7 G, 2020 (MSTM)
She dropped a game-high 18 points in this one, and it didn’t take us long to recognize that she was a shooter. Both her deep ball and mid-range are formidable. She rebounded well from the guard spot, too.
Skylyr Stewart, 5’6 SG, 2020 (MSTM)
The sharpshooter was putting on a show in the first half, canning five 3s and heading into the break with 15 points. She was the reason the Blue Devils got off to a hot start, and it’s no fluke, she’s been the best 3-point shooter all season for MSTM.
Sophia Gibson, 5’8 C, 2019 (MSTM)
She’s not a flashy player and isn’t there to light up the scoreboard, but a gritty glue player who does the little things to help the team. She’s a bit undersized for a post, but long arms help her play taller than she is. She was efficient, 2-3 from the floor, and pulled down a co-team-high six rebounds, three of them on the offensive glass.
Paige Oldenkamp, 5’10 C, 2019 (Bedford)
She’s best around the rim, and took full advantage of being the tallest girl on the floor in this one. Defensively, she took full advantage, too, blocking six shots to go along with her 14 points and 17 rebounds.
Makinna Russell, 5’5 PG, 2019 (Bedford)
The floor general for the Bulldogs, Russell doesn’t look to score much, but she is a pest defensively. She facilitates the ball well on offense, it’s like a hot potato in her hand at times, which keeps the defense on its toes. She’s a tough and gritty player, on both sides of the ball.
Kennedy Weed, 5’5 G, 2021 (Bedford)
The Bulldogs’ most prolific deep-ball shooter this season, Weed had the hot hand from long range tonight, canning three triples. Defensively, she has good hands, and came away with two steals.
