Among them will be Cascade freshman guard Ally Hoffman — a versatile 5’6 guard who’s been integral to the Cougars’ state title run this season.
“I think my main strength as a player is my defense and my ability to play different positions,” said Hoffman.
“I’m typically sixth-man in most games. My role is the same as everyone else’s: take care of the ball, rebound, play tough defense, and look to score. I feel like I’ve been playing well, but there is always room for improvement.”
For the second straight year, Cascade will play Dike-New Hartford in the first-round of the 2A state tourney. Hoffman’s 5.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game are a big reason why they’ve made it this far.
After watching Cascade win a state title last season, Hoffman was hopeful she could be involved with something that special this season.
“Our goal has always been to go “to a special place” as Coach (Mike) Sconsa says. Coach Sconsa told us at the beginning of the season everyone in the state has the same goal regardless of last year. I had hoped that I could be apart of it this year,” said Hoffman.
As soon as the Cougars’ state tourney run is complete, Hoffman will turn her focus to a 15U offseason with Team Wisconsin. She’ll also be active with her Cascade squad in summer leagues.
“My basketball goals for the next 12 months are to win the state tournament this week,” said Hoffman. “After that, I want to improve as a player and just play a lot of basketball.”
