After winning just 11 games in the previous five seasons combined, the Tigers won 14 this season. Collision led the charge while averaging 12 points per game, and leading the team in assists, steals and rebounds.
The 5-foot-8 guard says it was her ability to get to the hoop and create that helped her team the most.
“This year, driving to the hoop has become one of my biggest strengths. I’m able to get down low and make a move and put it up, or start from the perimeter and driving in is a strength,” said Collison.
“Our Carroll girls basketball program has been in a lull the past few years. I think this was a breakthrough season we had 14 wins and our team bond was amazing.”
In addition to leading the Tigers in nearly every conceivable category this season, Collison was also an emotional leader for the team.
“My goal was just to get everyone confidence and show the other girls that we could win,” said Collison. “Just being a leader on the team was one of the main things I tried to do this year.”
Now, she’ll head into a 16U grassroots season, and will play with Play4Him. She’s hoping to improve as a player, and hopefully start to see her recruitment take shape.
“I think one of my goals is obviously just to get better, working on my shooting more is something I want to work on this offseason. And just learn the game even more, which always helps,” said Collison.
“Recruitment-wise, I haven’t got much lately, but that’s something I want to do is play in college. Whatever happens, happens, I think it’d be cool to get some offers this summer if it’s meant to happen. But working hard and proving myself is what I’m trying to do.”
