As we continue our wrap-up of the Iowa State Tournament, we are unveiling our evaluations for players in the senior class. Among all classes we have 139 total evaluations with 44 of those in the senior class. This isn’t an exhaustive list of everyone in the class at the event, but rather who played well or for extended minutes that we were able to get an eye on. This is Part III of III.
Madison Gettler – 5’8 G – CAM Gettler was pretty solid as the main scoring threat. She was really good getting her teammates involved but also getting to the rim. She struggled with ball security though as she had quite a few turnovers. Dynamic player on both ends of the floor though. Olivia Larsen – 5’6 PG – Newell-Fonda Larsen is a really guard who has a burst with the ball that others don’t have. She is really good at getting into the lane and either scoring it or passing. She’s a really good defender who picks her spot going for the steal well. She’s athletic and strong with the ball, something that is a good recipe for contributing at the next level early on. Committed to Morningside. Liza Sutten – 5’9 G – Southeast Polk I really liked the game of Sutten. A player who isn’t going to blow you away with any part of her game, she is just so solid overall. She has the ability to step out and knock down shots but also make plays inside the perimeter. Really think she could be part of a solid offense if she chose to at the next level. Sami Albertson – 5’7 G – Southeast Polk Albertson, like Sutten was a pretty productive player when the ball was in her hands. Showed the ability to knock down shots from deep. Displayed a huge motor with the ball and handles it pretty well. Really liked her game for a small college. Maggie McGraw – 5’11 G – Southeast Polk McGraw is a smart and heady player who could help out any school in the region. She can shoot it, but she also displays the ability to attack at a very high level. I love her handling ability and ability to get others involved. You can tell that she is on a higher level than everyone on the floor. Committed to Iowa State. Regan Nesheim – 6’1 F – Johnston Neshiem took over for Johnston as on the whole their offense struggled quite a bit. She is a really good inside presence and was able to score at the rim at will most of the time. I really thought that she displayed more energy than anyone else on the floor. I think she is going to be really good at the next level. Committed to South Dakota State. Zoe Young – 5’10 G – Valley The best performer in the tournament by far was Young. She did everything for her team and willed them to three wins in a row. She’s such a tough competitor and throughout the entire tournament showed a ton of poise. Can score at all three levels at an elite level. Solid rebounder and tough, willing passer who gets teammates involved well. Committed to Maryland. Shea Fuller – 5’7 G – Valley Fuller is a knockdown shooter who can pull up and shoot it, but is very good off of the catch. I really like her quick release and her ability to put defenders on their toes. She had a huge championship game and kept them in it early on. Is a player that will be able to knock down multiple 3-pointers a game at the next level. Committed to Minnesota State. Anna Brown – 5’8 G – Waukee Brown really struggled in Waukee’s game in the state tournament. She didn’t shoot it that well and struggled to defend the quicker guards. I do worry a little bit about her ability to defend at the next level especially since she tended to struggle in this one. I think she will be fine, but really needs to improve defensively. Committed to Loyola-Chicago. Rachel Schon – 6’ F – Ankeny Centennial Schon is a really mobile forward who was able to play fairly well against Southeast Polk. As a forward who likes to play on the high post, I thought that Schon was able to command a lot of attention. She can shoot it just a bit but is really good at driving to the rim. Isn’t overly athletic but the skill makes up for that. Kenna Sauer – 6’1 F – Ankeny Centennial Sauer is a very solid post player who has a great back-to-basket game. She is very skilled with the ball and has a great frame. Super strong which allows her to get really good position in the post. Wide stance when receiving the ball allows her to hold the upper hand when getting the ball. Jumping ability allows her to grab a ton of rebounds. Committed to Missouri (volleyball).
