COACH’S QUOTE
“The team was led by 6’2″ forward Kendal Zeiter and 5’9″ forward Ella Burger who both displayed their leadership when needed the most. Kendal’s passion for the game is always being displayed, but the grit and mental toughness came out of her and you mesh that with her talent, you get pure dominance. She took over at the right times. Ella was able to give us the extra push, the extra energy that helped us force turnovers on the defensive end that led to easy points. 5’7″ point guard Lina Rea and 5’7″ guard Ashley Loon also contributed in critical moments throughout and may have been one of the most skilled backcourts in the whole tournament. Lina anf Ashley are 2 guards you want to have on the floor late in the game with the game on the line. They took care of the ball very well and know how to finish games strong. The team’s tenacity on the defensive end was, in my opinion, the deciding factor. We challenged our girls heavily by looking to prevent our opponents from scoring above 35 points. I think our girls took ownership of thay challenge and were determined to step up every defensive posession. Looking at our scores, I think we did a great job accepting the challenge, trusting one another, and understanding that when you get the job done, the results speak for itself.”
