“I was supposed to go to Millard South, but then my mom became a teacher in the Papillion district so I moved schools,” Ingwerson explained. “I would say this was fate because ever since 5th grade we started playing together. Olivia and I played for the same summer teams such as Husker Elite, Omaha Sports Academy and for our Jr. Monarchs program. We were each ten when it all started so we have been together for seven years. Over that time we have grown up together and really became family. I wouldn’t want to have gone through all those practices, games or traveling with anyone else!”
Over those seven years, these two players have learned how to play and compliment each other well, and they fit the axiom of many great things; a great guard and a great post player will take you a long ways. Boudreau averaged almost 15 points a game last year, while Ingwerson added a dozen on average every night. The two also hit the boards hard, with Ingwerson leading the Monarchs in rebounding at about seven a game.
“I love playing with Lindsey because she’s always there to pump me up if I’m not playing my best. I can always dish to her on a drive and she can finish,” Boudreau said.
“Her (Olivia’s) ball handling and shooting skills make people have to go out on the perimeter causing the inside to be more open for me. She knows how to pass it in to me, when and where,” agreed Ingwerson. “Another thing I enjoy about playing with Liv is how we support each other. If one of us is having an off game we go and cheer one another up. If one of us is having a good game we get so happy for each other.”
That chemistry is invaluable for Papillion-LaVista, who returns four starters from a 22-5 team that lost in the first round of the state tournament to eventual champion Millard North. With senior leaders like Boudreau and Ingwerson, the Monarchs know they can compete with anyone in Class A, and they welcome the challenge.
“I am very excited for this upcoming season. Our team is already very close and we’re definitely looking to be competitive this year. One of my goals for the team this season is to make it back to state and hopefully do better there than we have the last two years,” said Boudreau.
Both agreed that their head coach, Josh Siske, does a great job of taking their strengths and puts them in a great position to succeed.
“Our coaches design things that will distract the defense, causing one of us to be able to get a shot off. They know our game very well by now, so considering it is our senior season, the things they say to do or put in always seem to work,” explained Ingwerson.
Knowing that the end is near, both players have a sense of urgency to end their careers the way that they want to; with a nylon net hanging around their necks at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
“Honestly, I’m really bummed this is my last year for high school basketball and playing with Olivia,” said Ingwerson. “This team is so awesome and I have loved every minute of it. This season will be tougher than our past ones but it’s nothing we can’t handle. Our main goal as a team and myself, is to go in to every game and give it your all. Leave everything on the court and do the best we can do. Control the controllables! I want my team and myself to get better after every game. I think my team can do big things this year.”

For these two senior standouts, hopefully fate will on their sides one more time.
