In the 2018-19 season, the team went 16-10 so the team has been improving, and getting better together. The players have been enjoying the season with the team. One player who has been helping the Tigers with her personal success is Grace Moyers.
Moyers has shown marked improvement to her game this year, and is averaging far more points and much higher shooting percentages than she did as a freshman. Last year, Moyers averaged 8.6 points, 2.0 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. She shot 32 percent from the field, 23 percent from behind the arc, and 68 percent from the free-throw line.
This year, she is averaging 16.9 points, 2.9 assists, 1.9 steals, and is shooting 43 percent from the field, 40 percent from 3-point range, and 89 percent from the free-throw line. Moyers has great speed, is a hard worker, and is committed to working on her game. She has improved with her ability to put the ball on the floor and get to the rim with confidence.
“As a sophomore she’s been multidimensional, which has made her so tough to guard,” Erie head coach Sarah Pfeifer said. “Defenders have to respect the drive so it gives her a split second longer to shoot the three. She’s shooting 40 percent from three on the season, which is remarkable considering shes taking 7.5 a game. Grace does whatever is asked of her, on and off the court. Shes one of those kids you want the best for, because she has earned it by doing the little things right. Most nights, she’s defending our opponents’ best player while also finishing the game as our leading scorer. That’s a heavy load to bear, but shes does so every night with a smile on her face.”
