Question
What is the biggest strength of your game?
Alize Tripp
Like so many other talented players; court awareness, shooting, driving to the basket, etc. but my LOVE for the game and perfecting the basic fundamentals by repetition is definitely my biggest strength.
Question
You just recently scored your 1000th point. How does it feel?
Alize Tripp
I am joyful and I feel a sense of accomplishment. It’s something that I’ve worked towards for a long time. I’m humbled that I have been able to play with some pretty talented girls over the last 4 years who have supported me.
Question
What are your most memorable points that you’ve scored?
Alize Tripp
There have been many games that I’ve scored well and some not, and that’s ok. However, I would say that my most memorable game was against Napoleon when I hit 7 triples as a Freshman and broke the school record of 5.
Question
Who is the toughest player that you’ve ever matched up with?
Alize Tripp
I’ve played against a lot of great girls over the years and even though we’re on the same team, I’m going to say my sister Shea. We’ve played against each other a lot over the years in practice, at elite camps, 1 on 1 and her defense is awesome. That is what she loves and “specializes” in and I completely admire and respect her game. I will definitely miss playing with (and against) her next year.
Question
What are your goals for this season?
Alize Tripp
My (our) first goal is to beat Grass Lake in districts. After that, claw our way into the Final Four, like we did in my sophomore year and then ultimately make it to the Championship game.
Question
What is your favorite gym that you’ve ever played in?
Alize Tripp
I don’t necessarily know that it’s my “favorite” but playing in the arena at Calvin College in the Final Four was pretty amazing. The gym is very nice and it is a game I’ll never forget.
Question
What would you tell a kid that wants to be as successful in the game as you’ve been?
Alize Tripp
To be successful in anything, you have to work hard! There are a lot of sacrifices you’ll have to make and commit 100%. Success doesn’t come easy and I have to work for it every single day, not just on the court but in the classroom as well. Success in this game is not just how many points you score or the accolades and recognition you receive. Those are byproducts of the work and should motivate you to take the steps to become better (as a person and a player) each day as well as building relationships with your peers and teammates. You’ll always be a student of your craft if you’re honest with yourself that there is always something to learn.
Question
Who’s the best teacher you’ve ever had? Why?
Alize Tripp
The best teacher I’ve ever had is Steve Cramer. He is a skills and fundamentals coach for kids of all ages. Training with him since 6th grade under his Faith foundation, giving all Glory to God is why I have been so successful throughout my career.
