There were also some girls who caught fire from behind the arc, knocking down multiple shots. A few of the guards from the Class of 2022 and 2023 who stood out the most were:

Nysheia is a high scoring guard, who can put up points in transition and behind the arc. She scored 24 points, including 2 three-pointers in a quarterfinals win against Alleghany. She had 10 points in a tough loss to Martinsville in the regional semi-finals. Nysheia is an all-around player, she had a game where she had 21 points, seven assists, seven rebounds, and five steals. Keep an eye on her to carry her team for the next few years.

Quanadra Tunstall – Chatham – Class of 2022
Quanadra is a guard who helps Nysheia with the scoring on her team and contributes all over the court. She finished the regular season with a game scoring 27 points, 13 rebounds and 7 steals, doing work on both ends of the ball. During the quarterfinals of the regional tournament, she scored 15 points to help seal the win against Alleghany. Nysheia scored 19 points in the semi-finals but wasn’t enough to beat Martinsville, who moved on to the regional championship.
Karsyn Reed – Giles – Class of 2022
Karsyn is a 5’8 guard who can step out and shoot the ball, scoring 25 points, including 4 three-pointers in a big district overtime win against Glenvar. During the regional playoffs, Karsyn had 14 points in a first-round loss to Nelson County. She uses her jumping ability from volleyball to grab rebounds and block shots, being an all-around player on her team.

Missy is an elusive guard who plays hard and can shoot well from behind the arc. She had 16 points, including 5 three-pointers to beat Glenvar and move on to the quarterfinals of the regional tournament. She is a small guard, but her intensity and will to want to play hard makes up for her size. Missy gives constant effort throughout the entire game on both ends of the ball, causing turnovers defensively by pressuring the ball, knocking down shots from behind the arc and being able to put the ball on the floor and drive to the basket.
Rhyan Harris – Glenvar – Class of 2023
Rhyan is a guard who uses her court vision to play passing lanes, coming up with steals to run the floor and get layups in transition. She uses her long arms to shrink the floor, causing turnovers for the opposing team. Rhyan plays hard and is able to turn her defense into offense, she had 15 points, including 2 three-pointers in a first-round loss to Patrick County in the regional playoffs. Be on the lookout to see how Rhyan progresses over the next few years and lead her team to many wins.
