One team went undefeated through their conference tournament, four advanced to the second round or further, and one team repeated as regional champions. Without further ado, Prep Girls Hoops North Carolina presents the all-county team for Pitt County, NC.
First team
A’miya Joyner (Farmville Central forward, 2022)
One of the top 2022 prospects in the southeast, Joyner helped lead the Farmville Central Jaguars to their second straight 2-A East regional championship. The Jaguars sophomore is an excellent passer, ball handler, and finisher around the basket. At 6’2″, she’s only scratching the surface of her talent and already holds multiple Division 1 offers from schools in high major conferences. It’s only a matter of time before the big name programs come calling.
Janiya Foskey (Farmville Central forward, 2021)
Foskey has been another key piece to the Jaguars success over the last couple of seasons. Like Joyner, she’s an excellent passer for a 6’1″ post player and can handle the ball like a guard. Her role will continue to increase next season as will her college interest. With Joyner and Foskey returning, Farmville Central will have a chance to make it three consecutive regional titles.
Ashanti Hines (North Pitt guard, 2020)
Hines has been a standout for North Pitt throughout her career. As a sophomore, she was the second leading scorer for a Panthers team that won the 2018 2-A state championship, their second in three years at the time. In her junior and senior seasons, Hines has been the teams top scorer (17 points per game this past season) and also makes her mark defensively. She finished her career with 1,500 total points and is committed to play at Cape Fear Community College for head coach Lori Drake.
Jenna Wooten (D.H. Conley guard, 2020)
Jenna is a great leader, rebounds well for a guard and was one of the top three point shooters in Pitt County this season. She had to sit out a late stretch of the season due to injury, but came back and played great basketball to close out her career. Wooten is a career 1,000 point scorer and is committed to play at Spartanburg Methodist College for former East Carolina head coach Heather Macy.
Kylah Silver (D.H. Conley guard, 2023)
Silver was a winner at the middle school level and in her first season at Conley, the winning continued. The freshman guard is one of the top players in North Carolina’s 2023 class and will be getting major college interest sooner rather than later. She is tough to contain going to her right and is a really good shooter from both wings. The future for the Vikings is really bright after a 29-1 season that ended in the fourth round of the 3-A East playoffs.
Second team
Ania Sands (J.H. Rose guard, 2021)
Aquarius Pettaway (North Pitt forward, 2022)
Kayla Friend (South Central guard/forward, 2022)
Rashya Speight (Farmville Central guard, 2020, Louisburg commit)
Ja’Shyrah Carmon (Farmville Central forward, 2020, Cape Fear CC commit)
Third team
Cedaria Little (Ayden-Grifton guard, 2021)
Alisha Anderson (D.H. Conley guard, 2021)
Kayla Smith (South Central guard, 2022)
Kamya Brown (J.H. Rose forward, 2020)
Amari Palmer (South Central guard, 2023)
