2022 Rankings Review: Centers

Ther are just nine centers ranked in the 2022 rankings update mainly because a lot of players are athletic enough to play the forward spot. Even a couple of the players listed below are able to do that but project better to stay in the post. There are a lot of very good post options in the class and it starts with [player_tooltip player_id="63572" first="Brooklynn" last="Smith"] from Waterloo West. Smith was our top center in the last update and she holds that spot even though she fell just out of the Top 10. Smith still has a lot of room for improvement and over the past year she has improved every aspect of her game. Her ability to stretch the floor while providing some tough defense in the post cannot be overlooked. [player_tooltip player_id="129003" first="Natalie" last="Neilsen"] comes in as the 2nd ranked center in the state from Akron-Westfield. She is a very sturdy center capable of carving out space for herself on the interior. She’s a very good rebounder and can score the ball at a high level on the inside. She has become more mobile and could be in line to take a big jump in the next rankings update. [player_tooltip player_id="63616" first="Ellie" last="Hilbrands"] is third on the centers list and had a very good sophomore campaign at MMRCU. She’s a mobile interior player who has good hands and the ability to handle the ball at times. Her development over the next year will be key for her and her high school team.
