Some have emerged through excellent sophomore campaigns, others are popping up at smaller schools that receive less exposure or have been injured, and many of them probably should have already been in the rankings to begin with.
If you missed Part 1 and Part 2, be sure to check them out. Here are six 2022’s who recently entered the PGH Colorado rankings, and where they’re at having just completed their sophomore prep seasons.
Sydney Adamson Sydney Adamson 5'8" | CG Rye | 2022 State CO , 5-8, CG, Rye
Like her twin sister Sophie Adamson Sophie Adamson 5'8" | CG Rye | 2022 State CO , Sydney is a promising young player on a very good and young Rye squad. Over the 25 games she played as a sophomore, Adamson was third on her team in scoring at 10.6 points per game. A good passer with great court vision for a young player, Adamson also averaged 3.5 assists while putting up 5.2 rebounds and 2.7 steals a night.
Adamson entered the 2022 rankings at No. 67.
[player_tooltip player_id="145412" first="Sasha" last="Rascon"] Sasha Rascon Sasha Rascon 5'10" | C Grand Junction Central | 2022 State CO , 5-10, C, Grand Junction Central
Another promising young player, Rascon has some exciting physical tools and the potential to play college basketball down the line. Rascon played in all 22 of the Warriors’ games over 2019-20 campaign and scored a modest 3.4 points per game. But she also averaged 6.1 rebounds a night and it’s reasonable to expect the scoring numbers to catch up to her others as this athletic multi-sport athlete (basketball, soccer, track and field, and volleyball) continues to progress as a basketball player.
Rascon jumped into the rankings at No. 76.
[player_tooltip player_id="145413" first="Tyjhanae" last="Penny"] Tyjhanae Penny Tyjhanae Penny 5'7" | CG Pueblo Centennial | 2022 State CO , 5-7, CG, Pueblo Centennial
Penny grew up playing football in Texas and only started playing basketball when she reached the eighth grade. But you wouldn’t know that if you watched her play. A tough player who drives hard to the rim and can finish through contact, Penny led the Bulldogs in scoring with 12.3 points per game in 2019-20 and looks like a high-upside player early in the prep career.
Penny comes in at No. 79.
Cora Schissler Cora Schissler 5'4" | SG Platte Valley | 2022 State CO , 5-4, SG, Platte Valley
Leading a very promising young team in scoring with 13.8 points per game, Schissler helped pace the Broncos to a 17-7 overall record in 2019-20. The sophomore guard also averaged 3.1 rebounds and 2.4 steals in her second varsity season and will be one of several young players to keep an eye at Platte Valley in the coming years.
Schissler is ranked 80th.
Emily Sanchez Emily Sanchez 5'0" | SG Sheridan | 2022 State CO , 5-0, SG, Sheridan
Second on the team, Sanchez averaged 15.3 points a night as a sophomore and was also second on the team with 3.7 steals per game. Sanchez might be small at just five feet tall, but she has a knack for scoring and is a threat from 3-point range. She shot 28 percent (52 for 183) from downtown in 2019-20.
Sanchez hits the 2022 ranking at No. 81.
Whitney Chintala Whitney Chintala 5'5" | PG Fleming | 2022 State CO , 5-5, PG, Fleming
Chintala is a stat stuffer who averaged 12.5 points per game as a freshman and bumped that average up to 18.7 this winter. The sophomore also averaged 4.1 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 4.5 steals while shooting 27 percent form 3-point range. Chintala also won a Class 1A state championship with the Fleming volleyball team in the fall.
The Wildcats sophomore is ranked No. 82 in her class.
