Despite coming to the game of basketball a little later than many of her peers, Robinson has still managed to carve out a significant role within one of Colorado’s truly elite rotations. That’s not an easy thing to do. Neither is getting past the defensive-minded guard when she decides to lock you down.
Her ability to impact the game at the defensive end of the floor while her offensive skill set and role increase to match it is what Robinson hopes will get her to the next level.
“Our offense at Grandview definitely revolves around the bigs because that’s where we have the advantage,” Robinson said. “I really focus on getting steals so I can get easy layups and score that way. I really focus on my defense because I know that the better I am on defense, the more I’m going to play. I love Grandview and being able to compete for a state championship so I don’t mind working hard for my minutes.”
As a 5-foot-7 junior shooting guard in 2019-20, Robinson averaged 2.6 points, 1.6 assists, 1.5 rebounds and was second on the team with 1.9 steals a night despite playing limited minutes in a reserve role behind Division-I senior guards Tomia Johnson Tomia Johnson 5'6" | CG Grandview | 2020 State CO (Florida Gulf Coast) and Landri Hudson Landri Hudson 5'9" | CG Grandview | 2020 State CO (Wyoming). A solid ball handler and a good passer playing in the ultra-competitive Centennial League, the Class 5A runner-up Wolves often relied on Robinson to help slow down the many elite players on opposing teams.
“I definitely have a lot of hustle and heart in the game and I want to put all of my energy on the court any time I’m in,” Robinson said. “One of my strengths is defense and getting out and running. I like to play fast.”

Robinson, who plays club for Pro Skills Basketball, has reportedly drawn some Division-II interest from several local schools and a couple on the east coast. She said she’s interested in going out of state, possibly to a bigger school, but is primarily looking for a good basketball program and has no strict criteria by any means. Robinson carries a 3.8 unweighted GPA and says her shooting has improved recently because that is one of the few things she can practice while quarantined during the current COVID-19 pandemic.
That’s welcome news for Grandview head coach Josh Ulitzky, who already has a very high opinion of Robinson.
“Breelyn is a lockdown defender that has exceptional quickness and foot speed,” Ulitzky said. “She excels in transition, finishing and finding open teammates. Breelyn is a great teammate and is always looking to get her teammates involved. She brings a great attitude that is contagious with her teammates, as well. She is very unselfish and willing to do what is best for the team. She is a true player and a big part of our team’s success.”
Robinson is currently ranked No. 40 in the Prep Girls Hoops Colorado Class of 2021 player rankings.
