Obviously, these regions will change into next season but for these stories it was the easiest way to divide players and teams as equally as possible.
We will be writing a series of three stories for each region in the state and the categories are as follows: 2023’s to put on Your Radar, 2022’s who can Breakout, and 2021’s Who Should be Valued by Colleges.
We will continue to go through each region and aim to hit as many players as we can that we haven’t talked about previously. Here are five 2021’s who should be valued by colleges.
Lindsey Kelderman Lindsey Kelderman 5'5" | PG Waukee | 2021 State IA – Waukee
Playing alongside a handful of future college players, Lindsey Kelderman Lindsey Kelderman 5'5" | PG Waukee | 2021 State IA has all the skills to be one herself.
First, though, she’ll look to lead Waukee to a state title in her senior season.
Kelderman scored 274 points this past season, adding 96 rebounds, 66 assists and 38 steals. She made almost 44 percent of her field goals and knocked down 60 three-pointers.
Cheyenne Miller-Hameed – Fort Dodge
Fort Dodge earned seven wins a year ago and returns the majority of its production from that campaign.
Included in the group is Class of 2021’s Cheyenne Miller-Hameed who scored 181 points in 21 games. Miller-Hameed shot almost 34 percent from the floor and 62 percent at the free throw line, adding 99 rebounds, 26 steals and 23 assists.
Megan Earney – Waukee
The entire starting five for Waukee will be back this winter including Class of 2021’s Megan Earney.
Earney shot over 54 percent from the field, 44 percent from the three-point line and 71 percent from the free throw strip, finishing with 203 points, 104 rebounds, 46 assists and 31 steals. She made 28 three-pointers on the year.
Olivia O’Brien – Sioux City North
Olivia O’Brien will try to lead Sioux City North to more wins this coming winter after posting 134 points with 58 rebounds, 52 steals and 45 assists last year.
O’Brien shot over 32 percent from the field and 51 percent at the free throw line. Her production should see a boost up with improved percentages from the floor.
Nia Moore – Sioux City West
In just 14 games last year, Class of 2021’s Nia Moore scored 129 points with 77 rebounds for Sioux City West.
Moore, who made over 37 percent of her shots from the field and was an almost 68 percent shooter at the free throw stripe, also had 13 steals and made a handful of three-pointers.
