It was a trying season for Clinton last winter, as they struggled to just two victories. The River Queens, though, return leading scorer Elle Davis and top rebounder Makenzie Cooley, so the prospects for improvement are there. Davis scored just over 10 points per game as a junior, with Cooley recording nearly 12 rebounds a night including four on the offensive glass. Davis also led the team in assists (42) and steals (22). She knocked down 48 three-pointers with classmate Rylie Mussman adding 19.

The Tigerhawks return 13 of the 14 players on their roster from a year ago as the team went 7-15. Among those returning are sophomore [player_tooltip player_id="127633" first="Carley" last="Underwood"], who scored 216 points as a ninth-grader. Underwood made 19 three-pointers, adding 54 rebounds, 37 steals and 30 assists. [player_tooltip player_id="129054" first="Avery" last="Rague"], a junior, scored 167 points with 23 made triples, which led Colfax-Mingo. Kyra Lester and Brennan Rhone are also back after starting all 22 games a season ago. As a team, the Tigerhawks recorded 225 steals and made 62 three-pointers.

After finishing as the Iowa Star Conference South division runners-up last year, Collins-Maxwell made a run to the Class 1A regional semifinals before falling to Montezuma. The Spartans return senior [player_tooltip player_id="131219" first="Reagan" last="Franzen"], who led the team in points, rebounds, steals and assists last year. Franzen scored 365 points with 260 rebounds, giving her a nightly double-double. Classmate [player_tooltip player_id="164989" first="Brooke" last="Christie"] returns after making 32 three-pointers along with juniors [player_tooltip player_id="163325" first="Alexis" last="Houge"] and Kenzie Wierson. Wierson was second on the teamin rebounds while adding 48 steals and 41 assists. Christie had 48 assists.
