Some players enter the Prep Girls Hoops prospect rankings in the 9th grade and steadily work their way up the list. Others hover in the same general vicinity throughout their high school career. Then there are the late bloomers and hidden gems, those athletes who make their splash late. The following are players that are new to our list as they enter their senior season hoping to make a name for themselves with the college recruiters.

[player_tooltip player_id="201766" first="T’yana" last="Lovelace"] is a 5’11 Forward from O’Fallon. T’yana has been proven to be a strong and athletic post player that can do the things coaches are looking for. She will rebound, she runs the floor hard, she will defend and can score in the post. At times T’yana will become too comfortable using her right hand but has shown that she can finish with her left hand. With a strong body she can keep the taller defenders at bay and score by gaining position and sealing her defender.

[player_tooltip player_id="194096" first="Karli" last="Artman"] is a 5’5 Guard from Illini West Karli is a strong shooter, who this past season, shot 35% from 3pt and 75% from the free throw line. Karli led her team in scoring and also helps with the ball handling duties. She is a very quick multi-sport athlete (volleyball) that has strong handles which will be important if she is going to be able to translate her game to the college level. Her leadership and decision making will also be important as she is likely to be a point guard at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id="194094" first="Kayla" last="Kodat"] is a 5’9 Guard from Dwight. Kayla can score from anywhere on the floor. She has a very nice jump shot that she can hit anywhere she finds space. She is committed to Lincoln Land and try to use the JC route to find her best fit. She is a capable defender and also handles it well enough to play the point guard spot, which may be her long term role. She has good height for her position and should be a fun player to watch as she develops her game even further.

[player_tooltip player_id="194118" first="Jessa" last="Vetter"] is a 5’6 Guard from Geenfield. Jessa is most effective playing in the up and down full court type of game. She loves to attack the rim and can get from end to end very quickly. Jessa handles the ball very well so she can change directions and make moves in tight spaces. She is comfortable hitting teammates if they are open but will also score herself if the defense gives her the lanes.

[player_tooltip player_id="193909" first="Taya" last="Davis"] is a 5’7 Guard from Decatur MacArthur. Taya is one of the more under recruited players in the state, in my opinion. She is very quick in the half court and very fast in the full court with the ball. It is very hard to stay in front of Taya when she has the ball in her hands. Taya uses the athletic skill to penetrate the lane and uses her court vision to find an open teammate. She is a pass first type of true point guard but she can finish if the defense gives it to her. Taya is also a problem on defense where she will put pressure on opposing guards that most cannot handle.

[player_tooltip player_id="193911" first="Chloe" last="Book"] is a 5’8 Guard from Breese Central. Chloe is an excellent defender that uses her athletic ability and strength to be able to guard just about any type of player on the floor. She handles the ball well and is well suited as a point guard at the small college level. Chloe can score the ball in the open floor where she can use that athletic skill to get to the rim. As she improves her outside shot to be able to knock it down with more consistency she will be an even bigger weapon.

[player_tooltip player_id="193910" first="Madyson" last="Hill"] is a 5’11 Wing from Vandalia. Madyson is a point forward type that will be a nice addition to a college team because of her jack of all trades game. She can handle the ball well enough that she can bring the ball up and initiate the offense or she can play any other position in the offensive sets. As Madyson is able to improve her outside shot she will be an even bigger weapon. Madyson also uses her length well on the defensive end of the floor to be an effective on ball defender.

[player_tooltip player_id="193913" first="Kristen" last="Taylor"] is a 5’10 Guard from Highland. Kristen was a big part of the late season run that Highland went on, losing in the Super Sectional round. She is a big guard that can really defend and rebound. She has a good offensive game that is improving as she takes on more point guard responsibility. Kirsten has a nice shot that she can hit in the mid range consistently and she will look to make the 3-point shot more of a weapon this year.

[player_tooltip player_id="199009" first="Anna" last="McKee"] is a 5’8 Guard from Father McGivney. Anna is a long and athletic guard that can be a real weapon the defensive end. Since she walked on campus as a freshman she has been at the top of their press/half court zone and has been getting her hands on weak passes from that same day. Anna creates offense from her defense. She really burst on the scene as a freshman having a big year. She will be poised to finish her career off as the school leader in points and steals.

[player_tooltip player_id="201761" first="Lauren" last="Livingston"] is 5’7 Guard from Galesburg. Lauren is a very physical player for her size and will battle anywhere needed to get the job done. She shows good strength and is an excellent defender. Lauren handles the ball well and can score it too especially when she is going down hill. Lauren is a high quality kid and teammate that has strong leadership skills that coaches covet. Her strong frame and lower half allows Lauren to have deep range on her shot without too much extra effort or forcing the shot up.

[player_tooltip player_id="201760" first="Farrah" last="Castleman"] is a 5’4 Guard from Masaac County. Farrah is a scorer that finds ways to get the ball in the basket. She has a nice left hand shot that she can hit from deep range but does a lot of her damage by getting to the rim and finishing in traffic. She handles the ball well enough to make moves in tight spaces and has some creativity in the way she will finish in traffic both at the rim and in mid range.

These girls can all play at the next level and some are already being recruited or have made decisions. For those that have not made a decision this school season is important and will hopefully give them the chance to earn a spot on a college roster.
