Games featured intense play throughout with athletes getting the opportunity to showcase themselves in front of college scouts while preparing for the start of the upcoming 2020-21 basketball season.
With so many changes hitting due to the novel coronavirus, including many summer camps and tournaments being scrapped, the Prep Girls Hoops Iowa Top 250 Expo provided those players with a great chance.
We will be offering up a recap from each game of the expo.
Olivia Renze, Grinnell (2024)
The Grinnell offense will be gaining another valuable tool for 2020-21 with Olivia Renze. The current freshman joins a team that went 16-7 a year ago and placed tied for second in the Little Hawkeye Conference.
Renze offers up another three-point shooter, showing effective skills from long-range. The three-ball is a key to the Tiger offense, as they hoisted up nearly 800 last year and made 33 percent of their attempts.
Lily Huntzinger, Wheaton Warrenville South (2022)
Lily Huntzinger joined the Iowa crew from her Illinois-based team at Wheaton Warrenville South. Huntzinger is a talented forward in the Class of 2022 who has been part of the WWS team since her freshman season.
She is a talented athlete, having also spent time on the state runner-up volleyball team. Huntzinger shows a great first step towards the basket and is strong finishing at the rim. She also gets down the floor with ease.
Zoe Kennedy, Linn-Mar (2023)
With the loss of five seniors, Linn-Mar has a more than capable replacement ready to spring on the court in Zoe Kennedy. The Class of 2023 Kennedy is great handling the basketball.
She does a tremendous job looking down the floor at all times, keeping her eyes moving while maintaining control of the ball. Kennedy can also finish around the rim and showcases an excellent shooting stroke from deep.
Anna Haber, Dubuque Senior (2023)
Dubuque Senior’s Anna Haber will be looking to supply points in bunches this coming winter. The Class of 2023 Haber has great court vision and is an excellent long-range shooter.
Haber will be counted on to help replace six seniors from the roster for Senior.
Lucy Wolf, Iowa City West (2024)
Another young prep shined during her time at the Expo in Iowa City West’s Lucy Wolfe. The 2024 Wolf demonstrates a strong ability to finish around the rim.
Big things should be in store for Wolf and the Women of Troy as they return three starters and a handful of other players.
