Sioux City East is coming off back-to-back seasons with 16 wins, having reached double figures three of the last five years overall. The Black Raiders claimed a regional title and advanced to the Class 5A state tournament, falling to Waukee. That group was senior-dominated, as Taylor Drent, Kayla Benson and Kaia Downs return with experience.

Not much went right for Sioux City North last winter, but the Stars do return a plethora of talent. Junior Madison Craighead led the team with 173 points and 207 rebounds last year, shooting almost 73 percent from the free throw line. Classmate Adriel Simien scored seven points per night and senior Olivia O’Brien chipped in six.

Sioux City West embarks on 2020-21 having won at least 13 games each of the past nine seasons. The Wolverines will rely on returnee Gabby Wagner to help replace the loss of key players from graduation. Wagner posted 172 points last year, shooting nearly 42 percent from the field, 34 percent from the 3-point line and over 74 percent at the charity stripe.

It has been a solid five-year run for Siouxland Christian, as the Eagles have won at least 10 games each season. That included a winning record last year at 12-10, the first time doing that since the 2016-17 campaign. Senior [player_tooltip player_id="165068" first="Cassie" last="Jones"] averaged a team-leading 18 points per game last year while also dishing out almost five assists. She shot 30 percent from the 3-point line.

After going 3-18 in 2018-19, Solon bounced back to win nine games. The Spartans also have leaders Kaia Holtkamp and [player_tooltip player_id="129070" first="Makinley" last="Levin"] back in the fold. Holtkamp scored 11 points and four rebounds per game, shooting 27 percent from the 3-point line. Levin added nearly 11 points and sank 30 percent of her long-range shots.
