How it all shook out in ‘19-20
A spirited run for Cotopaxi was, of course, halted by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The Pirates turned in a 9-1 league mark, 20-4 overall. However, the other three teams that will comprise one of Colorado’s smallest leagues were a combined 3-16 in leagues, 14-42 overall.
Teams – Cotopaxi, Cripple Creek-Victor, Custer County and South Park.
Which playoff team advanced the furthest?
Cotopaxi was 20-4 in advancing to the eight-team 1A Colorado bracket. The Pirates opened in the quarterfinals by beating Briggsdale 45-42. They had a semifinals meeting with South Baca (Campo-Vilas-Pritchett), only to have it cancelled by you-know-what.
A few returning players to watch
Jordan Burnett, South Park, 2021, G, 5-6
Scored in every game a year ago other than in the opener.
Koylynn Gulliford, Cotopaxi, 2021, F, 5-10
16.0 points, 9.6 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.5 blocks are very strong numbers.
Sarah Wuellner, Cripple Creek-Victor, 2021, 5-5, G-F
Scrapped her way to 12.2 points, 6.7 rebounds as a junior.
Some other names to know
Shealee Coleman, Cotopaxi, 2021, F, 5-9
