Lotus School for Excellence certainly was in rolling to a 6-0 Confluence mark. Eagle Ridge Academy (no longer in the loop) was one game off the pace and Denver School of Science and Technology-Byers two. The other five schools suffered losing records.
Teams – Addenbrooke Classical Academy, Aurora West College Prep Academy, Denver School of Science and Technology-Byers, DSST-College View, DSST-Conservatory Green, DSST-Green Valley Ranch, Lotus School for Excellence, Strive Prep-Smart Academy and William Smith.
Which playoff team advanced the furthest?
Most of the league schools are of the newer variety and it showed – no Confluence team made it out of districts. Lotus School for Excellence played for third place in one of them.
A few returning players to watch
Madison Bogue, Strive Prep-Smart Academy, 2022, G, 5-1
The diminutive Ocelots playmaker went for 12.3 points to lead her team in scoring as a junior last winter.
Salma Douah, DSST-College View, 2023, F, 5-8
Douah averaged 9.7 points, 6.8 rebounds and 4.1 blocks in her first prep try as a freshman.
Amana Malki, Lotus School for Excellence, 2022, G-G, 5-6
A regular Meteor – Malki averaged 18.5 points, tops in league, and 7.1 rebounds as a sophomore.
Cora Rhodes, DSST-Byers, 2022, G, 5-4
Rhodes is an all-around contributor also was good for nearly four assists per outing in 2019-20.
Kimberly Tiznado Lagunes, Lotus School for Excellence, 2022, G, 5-8
As a sophomore last winter, Tiznado Lagunes was a factor on defense with 5.4 rebounds and 4.1 steals.
